Thank you for the response. It looks like I was right about the offense as both the HC and OC were fired after another horrific performance by Aaron Rodgers and the offense.

First time tuning in, I usually don’t comment but Andrews passion about how terrible the Jets are made me want to comment, that the game vs the broncos was more about the broncos defense than their offense. If he thinks the Jets will score 9pts again then he doesn’t know football. Also, often in the NFL teams play to the level of their competition

Great discussion, fellas. What I got most out of it is: it's all about The Trenches, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. A Game Manager can win just fine with a good O-line.

I am glad to hear that Pascal was never given resources, no centre, no bench, no shooters. The amount of nights he was close to triple double if only teammates would make their open shots. I think Masai got pissed over the covid bubble mess and Tampa, the Scottie draft meant the end of Pascal,. As soon as Scottie improved, deck was cleared out. Nothing is wrong with moving on, but just do timely trade rather that dragging it out over the years...

Great show. I was getting frustrated by all of the bad takes on this move, on social media. I was really glad to see 3 competent basketball fans talking about this terrible situation our incompetent front office put us in. I was actually working on a FB post, on one of the points you guys discussed. How many people Masai has screwed, and am starting to really see a "Babcock" effect, regarding our president. Remember every team wanted to sign Champagnie as an undrafted free agent, but he chose to sign with the Raps because of the orgs. past reputation for developing players. It was not long before Champagnie begged to get out of here. Banton was so happy to bolt. Common ground from so many players ... Demar, Ibaka, Fred, OG, Gasol, Fred, Serge, Dowtin, soon GTJ ..and even Nurse was said to of wanted out, .. then we have heard the rumors about other teams GM's not wanting to deal with Masai, because he jerked them around. I am not saying we should of signed all of those players, but the way Masai does things has left a bitter taste in so many peoples mouths. Not good for the organization. Masai's bad reputation can cause the Raps to lose out on free agent signings, and some GM's will not deal with him unless it is really necessary. I am starting to see things go back to the way they were when Babcock was the pres.

I never was a fan of Masai. Clearly he has no expertise in human resource management. As a person who worked in management I have observed many red flags regarding his competence and management skills. It is obvious to me that if he applied to a basic mid-level management job where I worked, he would fail the interview. There are many management techniques involving motivating and empowering staff, delegation, decision making structures that prevent autocracy, and incompetency. Most organizations have checks and balances to ensure that the organization functions competently. Unfortunately Larry Tanenbaum should be that check & balance in the org., but he got too cozy with Masai, and failed to objectively intervene regarding Masai's incompetence. The organizational evaluation process should not be Masai & Bobby making excuses for their mistakes. Generally when organizations start to dysfunction, outside professional management consultation firms are brought in to structurally fix the problems. Last season the organization was described as being "toxic", and many of the decisions of the organization seemed to be questioned from the people involved in the organization. In that situation only 2 solutions were appropriate. 1- fire the upper management team who runs the organization, or 2- Bring in an objective consulting firm to evaluate the structural problems that lead to those problems. As we see now firing all of the coaches did not solve the problems, the top decision makers are still there making the same mistakes that created this problem. Having experience dealing with management consultation firms; I know much of their process. The first thing they evaluate is how clear is the vision & direction of the organization communicated to the employees? How clear are the organizations decision making structures, and employees roles? How are decisions delegated? What is the process for evaluating decisions made by the org., and how effective has that process been? Normally this process takes about 3 months, involving committees, research, annd interviews. However a consultation firm only would need to watch one sweaty confusing Masai interview, and the problem would be very clear to them. Many years ago the Raptors brought in an expert in Tim Leiweke to fix the problems in the organization. Much like I discussed previously he created competent structures, and hired competent people, to build a very competent well functioning organization. We have to remember that Masai inherited a roster like Demar, Lowry, JV, T.Ross, etc ... from Colangelo, and a very well built competent management team and staff put together by Tim Leiweke. Much of the credit for what the Raps did in Masai's best years involves what they did. Masai's glory days involved working in a structure which other people built. The problem now is that after time, Tim Leiweke's people are gone, and now this is an organization that has been built by Masai. The organization that Leiweke built was very successful, the organization that Masai built has been a mega fail. Leiweke was a genius, Masai is incompetent. The 1st thing I told Kenyon after Nurse got fired, is that the Raps are in big trouble. Whatever someone may think about his coaching, Nurse was the last competent voice in the org. who had the courage to stand up to Masai, and challenge him. It has been painful to watch Masai's complete incompetence, and dumb decisions, after dumb decisions. Seriously, he spent 2.5 months to hire "the right coach" and he hires Gomer Pyle? Last season he decided he would hire a bunch of head coaches to staff Nurse. That created confusion as to who is in charge, so in bi-polar fashion the next year he fires all of the coaches, & he builds a coaching staff with no head coaching experience, WTF? No wonder everyone is confused, with Masai, in charge, lol. What is Masai's random flavor of the day? Vision 6'9? Vision .5? Who knows? He fires Nurse for not playing certain players, than 30 games later, he gets rid of all the players Nurse did not play. He complained about Nurse not giving developmental minutes to prospects, yet our 1st round pick is getting zero minutes of playing time? I honestly think Nurse would of found a way to use Gradey. The Poeltl deal, Fred walking for nothing, not cashing in on lowry, poor asset management, dumb projects, after dumb projects. Masai stubbornly making decisions that make even casual fans cringe. Like why in the hell are we giving Malachi big minutes, Masai? We are tired of having to endure your incompetence. It is almost unbelievable that you don't see what is so obvious to everyone else? Are you even watching the games? It does not seem like it. Just extend Siakam, it is simple, yet you are even trying to screw that up. What kind of organization is this? What happened to respecting the fans? TO has passionate fans, yet management has chosen to cut down on the interviews, and only give the fans the same boring spin. They don't tell fans anything, and just let them suffer always having to guess. Could you not even give us a time line on when Koloko will return? The way the front office has shut out the fans has a lot to do with how toxic the Raptors fan base has become. Even the once tightly controlled Raptors media has had enough and is starting to revolt against this management. And seriously, it does not give fans much confidence watching a confused sweaty Masai try to deflect questions during interviews. When asked questions about the Raps, Masai deflects to talking about the Giants of Africa? Masai just looks lost. Many Raps fans are just waiting for the day that they fire Masai, so the fans can have hope again.

You mentioned that GTJ wants to be a starter. The problem is he is not a starter. Which team would start him? If you find a team that may start him, it will only be a stop gap measure. Also GTJ may not get paid the same same salary he makes now, he seems overpaid for what he does? GTJ's management team shopped him around, this summer, and could not find any takers, so he took his option with the Raps. Not sure if there is any interest in the trade market for him? If so he won't bring in much of a return. I don't think GTJ is deluding himself, he knows the score. The problem is that GTJ is just not that good. He is a bench player, not even a 6th man. Other NBA teams don't see him as more than that, and I think GTJ knows that.

Pascal Siakam consistent for a while now settled in the new system. We lost alot of games due to giving Flynn/Precious minutes on the court. If we get alot of young players they will compete for being the star/franchise of the team. More drama, because they won't have any respect for scottie's being the face of the team. I say build around our duo, try to get to the playoffs this year, and keep bulding. Must be ready to contend before Scottie rookie extension expires...Pascal can keep dropping down the priority rank as needed when players are better than him if father time slows him down...
@jameswelch105411 ай бұрын
Beyond makes a great point about Darko coaching his players out of their rhythm. Masai can't accept the fact that he was wrong, and Nurse was right, in terms of player evaluation.
@vanhoot223411 ай бұрын
the key thing is he needs to hit the open ones. They need to get him going from the inside then go out... other guys in the league can work from the outside in.

Pascal once again had to adjust his game to fit on the team.. Players are creature of habits, however he is a team player and will try. FVV made the right decision, he mentioned that Coach Nick Nurse had some issues to deal with. I still think Pascal and OG will test free agency regardless if they are traded or not, which is in their best interest. Scottie has made the leap, and still growing...Yes Gradey is a movement shooter.. Raptors vs Miami is after Game20, curious to see tonight. k

Great show. Is there a bigger fan of basketball than Coach Tim? I don't think he ever sleeps. He is either talking hoops on a show, or Tweeting about the Raps through the night. I enjoy his insights on the game. You guys mentioned Biyombo as a good signing by Masai. I often use Biyombo as an example, to explain why it is important to get a coach the type of players he uses effectively. Biyombo was an average center in the NBA, but he was a perfect fit with Casey, so he was amazing with the Raps. Schroder was a good bench player in the NBA, but he works well with Darko. Give coaches the type of players that fit their system, and those players will succeed. Masai has a tendency to give coaches players they don't like, instead of players they can use. It is hard to imagine any coach wanting to get stuck with trash poor fitting projects that Masai often imposes on them.

Even if the ball moves more, the Raps need a shooter who can knock down the open shots. I expect Gradey will inevitably get minutes, he just fits too much to be riding the bench. Porter is a good bench player, if healthy he could net us a draft pick at the trade deadline. GTJ might have a good start and that will help us trade him to give Gradey more minutes. Coach's eyes look big as coconuts, he is excited about the season starting, hahaha.
@thereecereport Жыл бұрын
I see zero reason Dick should ever be riding the bench with the shooting and movement he provides.
