I wish to this day that I had the opportunity to go to a catholic high school like my siblings. I hope all those who get a chance, take that opportunity.

I hope we can bring a teacher endowment to the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Catholic school teachers do deserve more support.

Father this is a topic I’m interested in. At the parish I grew up in, there were 9 priests found credible cases of abuse. The priest who buried my mom, a devoted member of this church, was found guilty of child porn on his computer. I still can’t understand how he could continue to say Mass. Another priest pursued a person I went to catholic school so much she attempted suicide. How can a priest perform Mass and consecrate the bread and wine? If he confesses is that it and we move on? This is so hard for me to wrap my head around.

I am waiting for the Homily where Fr Joe yells “Omaha!” That priestly audible. 😂

On a side note, I was waiting for the joke after you talked about the be-headings and blood pressure, then you said, "just a heads up" (@ 8:12).

This was such a needed show. I think many, including me, put our priests up on pedestals and are crushed when learning of a priest’s discretion or criminal activity. This happened in my parish growing up and remembering my dad crying when he told me. This priest had visited our home many times and it felt personal. Thanks for this show @joeinblack

As a former Sheriff I am very familiar with clerical abuse. Bishop Mengling was from my diocese and familiar with the abuse. During the investigation multiple priests were involved. The Sheriff’s department was kind enough. Kind enough? To not mention the entire story to the press. Only one priest was sentenced to jail. That case was never made public. I met with an adjutant from Rome and discussed the case in detail. There is no excuse for cover-ups. Priests should be held accountable and not be coddled by the public or the church. Jail time is appropriate for proven criminals whether priests or a public person

My KZbin was on autoplay tonight. I'm crocheting and listening and BAM! The woman's question came up on being in a dark place. As I literally sobbed, Fr Joe talked about his own experience. I am that woman as well (not literally but I am there too). Thank you Fr Joe...thank you for your wisdom and thank you for your love. Through your help and lots of prayer, I know that I will make it through this.

Regarding immodesty: it ISN'T totally your problem; people need to be considerate of others. It is a great disservice to girls (and grown women) to leave them in ignorance and lead them to think their choices do not affect others. Self respect, as well as respect for others, is enhanced when people dress with dignity of the human person in mind.
@jeme733910 күн бұрын
Girls DO need to be taught modesty; they don't get excused by saying, "That's his problem." Comfort is important, but must not be given priority over decency. Your body is not for sale; stop advertising it.
