Even though the prodigal son came back, he still had to pay for some of his mistakes by eating with pigs and starving. This shows that the way back to Heaven will be a tough and arduous one. The son who stayed by his Father’s side even though did not understand his Father’s love was the more faithful one and inherited all that belonged to his Father. This inheritance needs faith and works. The rewarder of being sincere followers is Jesus Christ and through his merits eternal life is attainable.

I don’t think you get the full picture until you study and delve into all the religions because there’s truth in them all, God makes no mistakes-why else would God allow seemingly different views. Gods not just some madman gleefully sending the infidels to hell, no God is a God of love and has shown Themselves to all cultures throughout time. Christ is a part of the story, but the story continues.

A few things to note on the “Story of the Prodigal Son”. 1. It is important to note that in the story there were two brothers. One who left for the far country and one who stayed. 2. The part where the son is about to eat pig slop. You need to understand that in Jewish culture, a pig is as low as you can get. They are unclean animals in their eyes. 3. When the older brother saw the younger brother welcomed home after everything he did, the older brother was furious. 4. Remember who Jesus was speaking to and who he was inferring were the older brother and younger brother. Finally, this story doesn’t have a definite ending. All we know is the older brother was upset and the story ends. I have heard it put that if we were to add on a more complete ending, the older brother looked at the father and said “I’ll kill you for this.” And they did. A person can still be lost even if they know the father. Hence Jesus said. “They will know you are disciples by the love you have for one another.”

I believe that Jesus is the Lord, who died, was buried and resurrected so that his precious blood can wash away my sins. I trust in him alone to save me. Nothing else. Not my good works or anything else. Only Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
