Peter Høj the Beijing Brown Noser, who would rather suspend Drew Pavlou from the university of Queensland, than to stand up for human rights and free speech.

'Translation' can also involved critique of the commercial and government world as well. This is what provision of scientific data to support environmental or social campaigns of benefit to society and the planet is all about. We have been successful at the University in showing how bad pollution is from mining, the damage created by commercial logging, dangers from poor building and infrastructure construction practices, wastage of water supply in municipal environments, documentation of Indigenous knowledge, etc. This is applied or 'translated' research and exactly what academics can do best. But if anything it is anti-commercial, and ignored in 'translation' arguments. 'social obligation' involves critique.

Universities need to show relevance of higher education in benefiting whole community to get Australian Government behind them and fund them adequately.
