It's ashame how drugs ruined so many talented artists. Sadly they were high as a kite.

Did anyone attend or remember a Fillmore Concert in Sept 1967 where Bill Graham appeared on stage with a broken leg and a crutch? It’s the only time I recall Bill announcing the next band. It was Jefferson Airplane. The memory is strong cause Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy played a long duet. Can’t remember the song but I’m lucky to remember even that much from so long ago.

I wish they would bring back that other interview in 1990. Instead of just this one where all they talked about was fashion wtf

He orchestrated this hard shit we love so much. Mans a solid gold riff factory, as far as i'm concerned. Influential as phuck. Hell, if his dedication after finger tips severed doesnt teach u something or move u not to quit guitar, then blood isnt running through your veins, bigtime.

What a dismal time of musical repackaging and appropriation, blues country soul, just degenerated with hippy lyrical ideals. Nothing really new, thankfully the 80’s came along

Before the shows at the Fillmore in 1966 we had The Who at the Civic, Rolling Stones at the Cow Palace, THEM at Longshoremans Hall. Then The Fillmore became our place to go there was no other place like it and there will never be again. Bill would bring in Black Roots Blues or Folk and a British Band to play with a San Francisco Band. Just look at the Poster Archives and it was a School for Live Music even more so if you were a Musician at the time. Between 1966 and 1969 I must have seen more than 300 Bands at the Fillmore and a lot more if you include The Avalon, Winterland, and Fillmore West a little later. Not including the Free Concerts in Golden Gate Park at the Panhandle every Sunday where The Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Moby Grape, Quicksilver, Big Brother and Jimi Hendrix just to name a few all played. It was a great time before Speed ruined it all. At the Fillmore there were always Free Apples at the top of the stairs and a Free Mini Poster of the Show. $3.00 to get in.. by 69 it was $3.50 or more. It was the best of times for Live Music.

I used to go to the old Fillmore in '67, when the Dead were the house band. His customers whined about Bill Graham being a carpetbagger, but somebody had to do that impossible job and he did it well.

Thank You Pigboy Crabshaw. You were overshadowed By Bloomfield, who would'nt be. In my opinion every bit as good and maybe better on slide and a singer and bandleader. What you leave out, your touch, intensity, showmanship. I appreciate you Elvin.

Thanks Bill Graham. He always had a kind word for me outside Grateful Dead New Years shows; The Last Waltz was amazing. Imagine all the film footage that wasn't used; maybe a revised edition of the film?

Bill Graham was a legend. From the stage he introduced the shows, would kick giant balls into Day on the Green crowds, throw out Frisby’s and would make sure to tell everyone the tents down on the field were there to help you if you overindulged drugs or alcohol. He made sure his shows were affordable ( Snack Concert 1974 10 headliners for 5 bucks). After many free shows at Golden Gate Park you could join him picking up garbage left by the crowds. Met him a couple of times doing so. I’m glad I had the chance to tell him how much he meant to fans. On 10/25/91 we lost him in a tragic helicopter accident ending the classic concert era that would be eventually corrupted by greed. Thanks for breakfast at dawn and the great memories Bill.

Glad you discovered or uncovered all of this old footage. I can only imagiane how hard it was to keep the motion picture film from complete disinagration before you digitized it. Unlike other older great films lost to time. Thanks!

Free showers tomorrow morning at the Car Wash at 1 pm ! Bring your own shampoo or just walk through the Conveyance Line; in the end, it'll all be Fine & the City & County Thank You! Bill would've been a good 'Character' Actor (Godfather,et al). At an early 80s' NYE run in Oakland, he actually went to the trouble of having some Amps set up in a few trees for we who didn't get in. Tapers were recording from the next best thing to the Sndbd plug in. That's considerate & -I don't know- maybe it was the Dead's idea & doing. Either way - not a common occurrence of the time: Then/Now. He was against the doors in case someone inside might open one for 'Fresh Air' & the "No!", "Can't do it." responses were a mature businessman taking care of business as an adult would be expected to. When he got out of Breathing &/or Concert Events, the effect was felt in the Concert World though many don't put it together still.

I have always wondered if the rest of the videos are in existence. I was there the last 3 nights and the camera crew filmed a lot more than appeared in the movie. For instance, as far as I know the entire Grateful Dead show was filmed. Would love to see it if it exists.
