They deliberately design it that way so that the user can't replace it and you'll have to rely on a dealer who will spend hours and set you back obscene money not just for the woofer and labor but various hardware and brackets. Where I live no mechanic or car audio place will touch it and a dealer may not want to either but if they do they charge $1500 to $2000 or more for an 8 hour job at $150/hour. That is what I was quoted.

The stock Mark levinson woofer is crap anyway especially for it's hideous cost. There's not much response below 60 hz... just mainly upper bass and it's underdamped and boomy. And the replacement cost is is beyond obscene. Mark Levinson car audio has zero to do with ML high end home audio. They simply hijacked the name and stamped it on a mediocre car product and charged a fortune for it. It's really a Harman International (Harman Kardon) product. Big whoop. Far better to replace it with a custom job like this Pyle that sounds much better and costs far less.

It’s many moon my friend since you made this video but your valuable (Lexus subwoofer installation mod) information is appreciated. Thanks for your theoretical and practical demonstration how to make a layman DIY simple and perfect. I just bought a Lexus 02 es300 and is going to change the subwoofer and you make project so easy. Nuff respect every time.

Great video. Are both knock sensors the same part number?
@HellShredder713 Жыл бұрын
Great video but may I add on? I have an 04 Solara 3.3 and the knock sensor locations are the same as 03 and prior, but the sensors are made entirely different. The 03 and before Solara models have the same sensors as shown in the video, but 04-08 V6 Solaras use the ring type sensors that are mounted with bolts. I had to look it up by the year on RockAuto before making an order and surely enough, 03 and 04 have different sensors lol.

I know this is an old video. But so is my Lexus😂. Thanks for posting this. I was trying to figure out how to get to that speaker. Who would’ve thought that I just had to take the whole rear of the interior apart to get to that. 🤷♂️😂

Everytime this guy says don't worry about it's not a big deal, you should worry about it. It starts off by disconnecting the incorrect battery cable. Then he calls many tools by the wrong name and doesn't even drain the coolant and says don't worry about it it's not a big deal. Oh yes it is.

looks like the mark Levinson stock speaker is svc how did you wire the loc
@peteygnyc Жыл бұрын
It is, but it's a 2ohm speaker. Output from amp is 2 ohms single channel. To properly power the speaker, you need either a SVC 2 ohm speaker or a DVC 4 ohm speaker.

I would replace the spark plugs, the rocker cover gaskets if they're leaking, and anything else that would require the plenum/manifold to come off. You're in there balls deep anyways, may as well replace everything.

Question for you,,, I have a 08 es350 and the diamond like plastic pieces have air bags behind it. Did you disconnect your battery before pulling those pieces out on both sides? I was worried id deploy the airbags pulling them out to get to the woofer. . Did you have to do all that?
