One of the GRE preparation company has mention on their facebook page that the new ETS GRE word list is compilled by a third party partner and not by the ETS. They assert that these words are picked up from the word lists of princeton and kaplan and that these words wont help on the GRE.
@talhaomer167Күн бұрын
I dont think ETS would do such a debacle and tarnish there reputation by lifting material from other sources and then not test these words. In case that is true then ETS will not just be sued by these companies but also loose all credibility of their materials.
@ragamvaibhav6200Күн бұрын
I feel it might also be due to the online version of the test being introduced. Many people give the exam by unfair means and get a good score which affects the percentile. And also due to gre being not mandatory many people who know they would get a good score give the test, others dont take the exam anyways.
@talhaomer167Күн бұрын
Yeah but then verbal percentiles should have changed too if cheating was pervasive
@talhaomer167Күн бұрын
Also i am skeptical that GRE optional has any effect at all on people skipping the exam. Especially if you look at data of test takers from like india and China the number of test takers hasnt diminished at all and btw india is the biggest test taking market after US so people are choosing to take the exam regardless

Hi Sir, great video as always. Do you think it’s worthwhile to give the GRE with only 5 weeks to prepare if I’m applying to only GRE optional schools (p competitive programs though)? I’ve a strong academic profile with a 3.9+ CGPA, a conference paper and 3 years of relevant work experience. I’m applying to MS in Computer Science programs. Would really appreciate any advice you might have for me, TIA
@talhaomer167Күн бұрын
Thanks Maheen, Well I would say take a shot at it. If you score well (like 315+) then send those scores as they will help otherwise apply without the GRE score. Given your experience and papers, I don't think that applying without a GRE would go much against you though sometimes programs are like that if you are applying from Pakistan then give GRE as we advice it.

Sir, I have two questions: 1. My exam is on November 20th, and for the Quant section, I am preparing using both Magoosh videos and the Manhattan 6-book series. Given that I have limited time, how important is it to solve the Manhattan practice questions, or should I focus solely on the official ETS material? 2. I’ve prepared the GregMat wordlist, but I find it challenging to memorize all the ETS words. How well can I score relying primarily on the GregMat wordlist? Again thanks for such a useful content ❤
@FatimaInam-l6y4 күн бұрын
@talha omer Sir I think these are good questions to answer, that might be helpful for me too
@talhaomer1674 күн бұрын
1) Well to be honest if your target is 165+ on quant then Magoosh videos, Manhattan 6-book series, Manhattan practice questions will not cut the deal. You will have to focus on ETS official questions a lot including all of their power prep questions (also if you can afford, go for the GRE mentor course questions as well) otherwise PPP and PP mocks are a must. If your target is like 160 on quant then yes what you are suggesting is fine. 2) Gregmat word list is decent and will get you enough words to do 155-158 on the verbal section.
