On Pontiac the front (left side) of the main cap number as it is written, goes to the front of the motor.

Hello, I have the same engine and I want to restore it but I don't know the model and I'm missing many parts. I also don't know how many strokes it is and what oil to use. I hope you can help me, please.

Glad you take the time to cover your complete lube. Makes you feel better when she turns right over down the road. Just wish the manufacturer did the same. You know how it goes with mass production. 🙏

I thought you never use synthetic oil to break-in one of these engines. Always use conventional oil for the break-in then next time you can use synthetic if so desired. I've heard that from several mechanics.

Very good fix. Hey I have to weld on the exhaust of a mower. I was wondering what I should disconnect before welding? Pull fuses and disconnect the battery cables?? Don't want to fry anything.

This has to be one of the worst and most annoying videos I have seen for a long time. Mumbling, hugs gaps, digression. People just want to know how to put an engine back together. Cavitation my arse.

Your theory is correct. However, wouldn't it be easier to pass a marker though each leg and mark your holes on the concrete. Then move your tank out of the way and drill perpendicular holes where the marks are. Because you're drilling on an angle, when you install your anchors and bolts , you will not have the best surface contact. Especially if youre leaving a 16th inch gap between the nut and washer. Youll have a 16th of an inch on one side of the nut/washer and a larger gap closer to an 1/8th of an inch on the high side.

how did you get the drive puppy off the bottom
@qtrmirob9 ай бұрын
I know this is an old video and not sure if mentioned but when drilling holes that small you must start with a center drill. For a hole that size use a #2 center drill for pilot then drill. A good cutting oil also a must and drill press. I drilled one this week for a small ford. One drill, less than five minutes. Hope this helps others.

I know its a long time but, I have a suburban Aire SA40n and I love it. Finally found someone working with problems and showing the disassembling of some parts. I am trying to diagnose my problem without replacing all parts that are not readily available. Would like to pick your brain a little if you are still available

The anchor bolt washer needs insulator under. It's also or it's gonna vibrate the hell out of the concrete
@jeffgoehring630810 ай бұрын
You need to insulate the bottom of the anchor flat flag and the top of the anchor leg. What would you what it's gonna vibrate? The s*** out of the concrete will pop and break apart. What if you don'translate on top of the anchor leg?
@jeffgoehring630810 ай бұрын
You need to insulate the hold down bolt also. Why did you drill the hole at an angle go or sideways? Why did you drill it sideways?

So, what was the problem that indicated a rebuild was needed? Reason I ask is my unit seems to have good compression and starts easily but it is burning oil almost constantly.

normal aluminum cylinders are coated with nikasil, which only diamond honers can work in. ..you can probably scratch the surface a little and remove the worst dirt. but you can't hone nikasil with a stone honer

I have seen that problem a couple times before and it was the machine shops fault both times.you may want to have the other things you had done rechecked by another shop.if faulty you should be able to make the first shop pay even if u have to sue them as a last step.goodluçk.

The dip of the fluid is called a meniscus.looks like you have 101 combustion chamber. why didn't you use 455 heads. If you want performance Go to A #64.head It's a 1970 455HO 87 CC combustion chamber 370 HP
@tonypakula3466 Жыл бұрын
6Xis not a 455 head code the 455 head is 6H. 6X was in the 350/400 engines The 350 Has a smaller combustion chamber and was popular to put on a 400 to boost it's HP The 400 6X has a 101 cc combustion chamber
