Cool! Curious how the clear tube is doing a year later. Did you happen to do a system flush beforehand?
@thestateofreal25332 күн бұрын
No flush when I made this video. These do become hazy overtime due to the chemical interaction with the coolant. When it does, I just swap it out when doing a coolant change.

@@thestateofreal2533 Heck yeah! Your fuel consumtion is already cut down while towing. Do you run any fuel additives to keep the fuel system clean and as efficient as possible?
@CbSd9943 күн бұрын
Your battery would have worked if you hadn't replaced the sulfuric acid mix with water and epsom salt. The epsom salt solution made that shorted cell permanent due to the added deposits between the shorted plates. That's the Paul Harvey here. Added: magnesium hydrogen sulfate is what you made on and between the plates.
@thestateofreal25333 күн бұрын
Oh it worked after I emptied the epsom salt out and replaced it with new acid.
@CbSd9943 күн бұрын
LOL! In that case, good job! I tried it too. Mine made concrete between the plates on the problem cell.

@thestateofreal25334 күн бұрын
Yes and still going strong. The only issue I had was operator error…I sprung a leak in my braided oil line and when I replaced it I tightened it down too tight on the control orifice fitting and stripped it (it was brass). I replaced it with stainless fitting steel.

It's not "boiling the sulfuric acid off the lead plates". It's liberating the lead sulfate from the surface of the lead plates.

Thank you for the video. My mirror's black rear plastic housing got some damage and I am looking to buy another assembly. Since all the motor function are still working I don't need to by an expensive assembly. I just need to rob the bottom/rear plastic from a new one and replace the damaged one. But I am not sure when buying a new one if the the top accent cover comes off of the new ones so that I can put my white accent cap cover on the new one. Since I don't have one to look at I won't know before buying one.

Okay here is my thought process. Cooant runs through the engine block. In the case of a blown headgasket youll get micro plastic im youre engine. Will this kill the car? No most likley not if youve got a blown head gasket youve got bigger problems. However why even add extra risk to the shelflife of the car because the radiator is also a componet that isnt built to have plastics in it as well. For a shit ox expiriment hell yeah. Any devoted car builder howverr should never take a shortcut such as this.
@thestateofreal25332 ай бұрын
This is just not a useful conversation as most modern cars have plastic coolant housings.
@CJEichinger6 күн бұрын
I agree completely. But I wouldn't rule it out if one were to perform maintenance much more frequently (Say a coolant flush at 50,000Km instead of 100,000Km) and also changing the hose out probably every 25,000Km during an oil change. I would do it under those circumstances. But you are right, the micro plastics wouldn't be good for the rad or the heater core. The plastic will dry and become brittle eventually too. I wonder how long it would safely last under those conditions.
