Strange word to put on a Pullman coach - whirlpool! The Great Little Trains Of Wales - or, as they are called in the local vernacular, Trenau Bach Gwych Cymru, most of them look like those little miniature railway trains that you sometimes see running around parks on little tracks - would love to ride on all of them - though it might mean getting a lot of buses between places - and knowing how to pronounce them would help - I went camping in school at a farm in Betws-Y-Coed - often visited both Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog - which us foreigners kept mispronouncing as Port Maddock and the PE teacher called Blaenau Ffestiniog “Blay-now Fest-ini-og - the staff I went with didn’t like being “corrected”, so I gave up correcting them!

Of Course cars would have the same problem if they were not so "overmotorized", in Europe most cars are blocked by the software, a german car-magazine tested the fuel demand on maximum speed in 2011 it was I think. Diesel cars (very common in Europe) were better with ~36 litres/100km the worst (100km = ~62,14 US miles, and 36 litre diesel are 9.51019388 US gallons or ~6,53 miles per US gallon diesel, diesel is more efficient than gasoline in terms of energy per gallon ) and only few diesel cars beyond 25 litres at max speed, while gasoline there was more than a dozen with over 25 litres/100km (most of them need 7-13 litres under normal circumstances, on gasoline the "Jaguar XKR 5.0" (2010 Model) 530 PS (390 kW; 523 hp) @ 6,000-6,500, 655 N·m (483 lbf·ft) @ 2,500-5,500) was the worst with a consumption of over 51 litre gasoline at top speed. The 2 earlier 2009 Jaguar XKR 5.0 models (first "only" 385 PS (283 kW)) and the 510 PS (375 kW) had a limit at 250km/h, this limit was raised on the 2010 XKR 5.0 models to 280km/h, the at testing not available 2011 Jaguar XKR 5.0 with even 550 PS (405 kW; 542 hp) even had a 300km/h limit (300km/h = 186,41 miles per hour...) and I guess even a higher consumption at 300km/h in difficult terrain. But I think even at middle/west european gas prices of (7,50 - 8,50 US-$ per gallon, on old exchange rates more like 7.75 - 9.00 US-$, more expensive only in Norway and dont ask me why but in Turkey... they pay over 1.70€ per litre gas, there is a use of natural-gas-vehicles but like everywhere in the world it is not the most common fuel, Well, Alaska has also always the 2nd or 3rd highest gasoline price in the US but is one of the larger producer (until 2009 one of the largest), it has the lowest fuel taxes on gas and diesel. "WTI"-discount is helping the lower-48, but not Alaska... also the distribution in the large area but in small towns is expensive and even dangerous because of the weather. But population is growing, economic is okay there I guess, even with a historical low oil production, falling every year since 1988, absorbed between 2002-2008 by extreme increasing oil prices. However, now oil prices are stable, inflation adjusted the prices are going down and the amount of oil is going down... because of North Dakotas and Texas oilboom the cold Alaska is being forgotten. Without investments production will fall in 2-3 years below 10 million barrels a month....and in the shale oil/shale gas oil boom there has been the "barrels per well"-peak extreme fast, in the summer 2010, 200 barrels per well was the peak than, the amount has fallen very fast to something between 100 - 125 and is being stable since than, but this means you need to drill 1,75 - 2,00 rigs for the same production of 1 rig at the "peak per well"-summer 2010, making it more costly, and for me there is the question: is this unconventional oilboom only like the oilbooms in the 1920's and 1930's in texas? People came, drilled, much oil came, few years later production was so low that people left the village/town and went to the next, it was a technical problem in the 20's/30's because they used very simple and cheap rigs which didn't drill deep and oil flow stopped after 2-5 years, we might have the same problem in the US oilboom, price per barrel in the 1st half 2014 was a bit over 44$ in Bakken! Thats a lot, but still much more profitable than Canadian oil sands in Alberta with ~65-66$ (Bakken and Canada after employees and taxes to the state, county and federal goverment paid). Canadian oil sand projects were put on schedule because the profit is too low and they saw already 3 months ago the huge oversupply worldwide with the risk of a falling oil price. If the barrels per day per rig-amount will continue to fall now (when oil prices worldwide are falling) it could make the production far less economic, if the companies need to drill a large amount of rigs to maintain output, prices for rigs could increase (or at least materials needed for the rigs), transport costs would increase for sure. Many people in European forums are not sure if the Bakken and Texas shale oil and shale gas (while shale gas is far less important for the world economy, there is soo much gas on the earth, we started much later with large natural gas production and amounts have been and are not as high like at oil, natural gas reserves worldwide are very high and LNG-Terminals and LNG-tankers are being build increasingly since 2010, before LNG was only a South Korean and Japanese thing to get their gas, because building thousand km pipeline on the pacific is not legal and the costs... but since Qatar plans to export extreme amounts of LNG and is doing progress that is really no problem. The reserves are not in a cartell like OPEC, not yet. The countries produce and export as much they can or thing its right. For oil however the cartell does produce less than 40% of global oil, but most of the oil which can be produced for less than 10 US-$/barrel is in their and Russias and ex-soviet republics hands... so I hope the shale oil will flow and the dream of an net-exporting oil USA will not be destroyed in 3 years because the rigs continue to become dry, but the US goverment will invest a lot of money for this oilboom, otherwise the money goes to the military saving the sea-ways for OPEC-oil... and bases all over the area, military aid, and so on... next year the military cost will reduce when the last ~39.500 US-soldiers from Afghanistan come home... supply to afghanistan is very expensive since the country is landlocked and truck drivers from karatschi are civilians, mostly afghans but sometimes also pakistanis, very well paid, and many die, but its cheaper than airlift. E10 Gas, Super/Super Plus is available, E10 gas is only 0,04€ cheaper than Super per litre (normal Super Plus with up to 5% Ethanol, thats the limit), E10 otherwise has to contain 10% Ethanol but since Ethanol has 32% less energy than (Super?) gas this might be even the more expensive fuel, but you know Ethanol = no oil/gas/coal directly involved in production, "good" for enviroment... still the gasoline market share was only a bit over 8% for E10 in the first year. 2012 it climped to 14,64% after reports that 10% Ethanole can damage older cars were corrected and that almost every car built later than 1995 has no problem even with E15 (which is not available). The price reduction should not be only 0,04€ but well that is politician... it should be 0,12€ (0,06€ additional tax reduction in E10 and 0,02€ increase for Super) and it would be at 30% or even more within 6 months... but I don't think US/European oil/natural-gas companies have an interest, I mean they started this whole Ethanol shit before the US oil boom, before the recession, and now there is an oversupply on the oil market, even though Libya does not produce usual levels, Syrias (legal) exports are zero, Sudan/South Sudan only produces around 200,000bpd (instead of the over 500,000bpd average of 2005-2011) and Iran of course is only producing a bit over 3 million barrels, so they want YOU to use oil. Oil is almost everywhere, a ~1000$ computer (quad-core, much ram etc) sold in Michigan for example needed over 200 litres of oil before it is at the users home.

There has been never transported so much oil inside the US by tank trucks, train or barge vessels! The new oil boom brings oil/natural gas at places without pipeline and therefore the expensive transportation is needed, at the front this are 3 trains? You seem to know them, electric trains I guess? you know how many hp/kW the 3 trains deliver??
