JR has always loved the bigger toms! That’s awesome you got his kit! Beautiful drums! 👍🏻🤘🏻🥁

My 2 cents If you got shallow drums they should be tuned mid to high as jazz You have tons of space between the 24 and the toms for deep shells If you like low tones or play rock try deep shells and of course ROCKER shells that are 10x10 12x12 13x13 14x14 and 16x16 toms and floor toms (thicker shells round or half round bearing edge) 14x14 16x16 18x18 and the lost 20x20 For the life of me I don’t understand 8 lug bass drums on a pro kit (no not vintage) It sounds good Yamaha brass snares are also a good thing

@@tombrenes2411 thanks so much for your feedback! We value your opinions. Since we are working in a studio environment, these kits get tuned differently a lot, depending on the style of music we are currently recording.

What you’re saying does make sense to me, but for me, I tend to tune the drums to where I think they sound the best. Each kit is different, and each drum I think has a small range in which the drum sounds really good. These particular Phoenix drums just want to sound lower. My other Phoenix drum set is more Jazz sized shells, and they can go higher and still ring nicely and very open in their sustain. I also tuned the drum for the song that I’m playing or recording. Recently, I wrote an R&B song, and I wanted to tap into that old 70s dead sound, like you would hear James Gadson play, so I actually had used tee towels on the Phoenix drum set when I recorded that song. It seems like a big waste of money to have these expensive drums all deadend up, but I must admit they sound amazing in the song. And that ultimately is the most important thing to me. Thanks for listening and your comments! Stay tuned for more variety and content coming!

I’ve been playing a 1200d for many years and have just got a HHS9D! It’s a bit heavier but not too much but so much easier to use and smoother to play. Like you I am a bit OCD and wanted to match my FP9D double pedal! All really great and the best pedals I have ever played and I started over 60 years ago so have played a few different pedals in my time! 🤘😎🥁🔥👍 PS Like you’re shout out to Jim - hope he is fully recovered from his leg injury. 😁👍

Thank you Earl! We worked hard putting this one together, but the words came easy for me because they came from my heart, and what I’m saying is the truth of where the church is today! This one will hold up until Jesus comes back! Here’s the kicker, I wrote this song in January of 2009, and it is still as truthful today as it was back then!

WOW an impressive collection, The Dave Weckl yamaha snare looks and sounded great,I thought they came with die-cast hoops though, And the Jeff Ocheltree Paiste 2002 snare, (holy shit)-i remember he made a glass stave type snare, featured in Modern Drummer when i was a kid-i had to take a blood pressure pill to type this, thank you-cool video

Thanks for the review Jim. I think I’ll be passing on these mufflers based on the fact that you can make mufflers like this using the Paul Liem cymbal felt trick with a $0.25 quarter on the bottom of the felt and gaff tape! I hope all is well my friend!
