These Are Days: A Love Story Jealousy: The Breakup Seven Years: Looking Back The vocal at the end is so intense. Incredible performance to close the first set. So much feel in this music. And this audience is alive.

Very cool version of this one!

I love her singing on this one. The rhyme and flow of the lyrics, just superb. Brings joy. A cautionary tale with playful lyrics. It’s great. The band is great. They perfectly play just what the song needs. You feel it. I’m sure you’ve noticed in these songs the musical interplay between band members (vocal - guitar, guitar - keys, keys - vocal). On this song Jennifer provides a little lightning. But just a little.

@@I5x540 It's so different from the from how the Maniacs played it. The slower tempo makes it more ominous and dark to me. Jennifer's riff gives the song an edge. Everyone is so in sync. Love it!

I'd love to hear the rest of this show if you have it, especially These Are Days and tracks 13-17. Natalie with Jennifer Turner makes for the best live versions of these songs, imo.

I was just waiting for someone to ask. I'll post tracks 13 - 17 together without lyrics this weekend. I am currently working on tracks 5 - 8 with lyrics and should post within next two weeks. This includes These Are Days. Eat For Two is the standout of these for me. ~ Concerning Jennifer Turner, do you think Natalie Merchant knew what she was getting from the start? That guitar is so loud and heavy (in a good way) behind her for a lot of these songs. A lot heavier than anything from the Maniacs, I think. Is that what she was looking for? I ask because she never released a live record (shows over three year 93-96 period) with this band. And she reinterpreted Tigerlily songs later.

@I5x540 Thanks! You are awesome! No rush on the videos, just glad you are putting them out. I've always thought Jennifer Turner was perfect for the Tigerlily songs, so I never considered that it might not be the sound Natalie was going for. The more I think about it, it does seem more likely that Jennifer was a bit too much for Natalie's sound. The guitar intro to Wonder on the album was quickly replaced by piano and vocals like this version kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpXPq4J9mtZmeZI. If I recall correctly, it was Jennifer's idea to get the Marshall amps they toured with. Found the clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qauVXn9pnraSpqs I also heard in an interview that Natalie has tinnitus, so that might also be a factor in her shying away from loud electric guitar. I don't know why they stopped playing together, but a live album would have been great to commemorate this band. To me, Jennifer owns songs like Carnival and I May Know The Word. I still like the new versions of Tigerlily though.

Well, I love Tigerlily and the incredible band Natalie put together to record and tour it. So thankful. Love Jennifer Turner on guitar, she adds so much to this music. Glad Natalie got a little heavy (metal) for this. Just wish we had more live recordings from the concerts they performed together. Lightning in a bottle! It's never too late for a live release. 30th anniversary's coming up. Could be a box set with a show from each year.

@@I5x540 yeah, same. A box set would be great. There's got to be a lot of unreleased recordings and footage.

Agree, really hits you. The buildup to that ending, so powerful. The force behind the vocal. Amazing live performance by the band.
