love the work but man people need to start pronouncing "Scholes" properly, its pronounced "skulls", like school or scholar.

Who told you it's supposed to be pronounced like that? I watched videos where he was a guest speaker and that was not how his name was pronounced.

That’s not how it’s supposed to be pronounced, stop making stuff up. His Wikipedia page has his pronunciation and it clearly says Myron Scholes (/ʃoʊlz/ SHOHLZ).

An explicit solution needs to be y=f(x).

This is a pretty cool idea of a math video. I could see a multipart series of this combined with the choose your own adventure concept that has you giving testimony on how to solve a problem. Then depending on how correct your choice is as you go, objections might start flying or things like that. Neat way to remember the content!

have you made any money doing all this work?.. i mean in the market

Short answer: No. The model shown does not take transaction costs into account. And it assumes continual hedging. The technique can work for institutional or large scale investors who have small transaction costs and can trade very quickly and very often. That's not possible for me as an individual investor unless I find a huge mispricing in a stock.

But transaction costs only range around a couple cents right? Also, where did the initial payoff equation come from?

if you price american option, i believe you cant just cash in and stop simulation the path. You need to simulate to the end and then find the OPTIMAL time to exercise the option then start discounting. Am I missing something?

Each trace is a possible future timeline and you don't know if the stock price will go higher at the time you cash in. In the real timeline, if you decide to cash it in then cannot benefit if the stock goes higher afterwards. This video's purpose was to expose my students to pricing with Monte Carlo techniques. It's a very powerful technique that can be deployed quickly. Thanks for watching! Also, I have not made a financial math video in a while. If you have any concepts you think would make a good video I would appreciate your ideas.

I have also seen this problem done as a snowball. So instead of volume of a cube, use volume of a sphere formula.
