Solid OIS break down! Been stopped by the police a fair amount of time, never was I contacted for good behavior - I’ll just say that! Now as I’m older and have my own kids, I highly appreciate and respect any officers still willing to put themselves on the street with the politicians (that includes your brass as well) who will throw you under the bus’s as soon it’s convenient. I do believe we don’t need more officers, we need more HIGHLY trained officers, quality over quantity. The public wants numbers, for obvious reasons but I don’t believe that’s the correct response. Also, officers go to way too many calls that are truly below their skill sets. Make police more highly trained, which leads to better outcomes (we can show that through several different modalities) and redefine what calls they should and shouldn’t handle. Great work SFPD, hope all the officers are physically and mentally ok.

From what I have seen, the responding SFPD officers conducted yourselves admirably and gave Pete every opportunity to surrender. From my personal experiences and knowledge of Pete, I do not believe there was anything else the responding officers could reasonably do. Pete was a ‘detestable individual’. In my and my colleagues personal opinions, we are seething with disappointment with Pete and his arrogance, holding him responsible for his own death, and forcing you to defend yourselves. I do not know if these mere words can in some way help any of you. I know a little insight helped me a few times. However, you officers should be proud of yourselves. Not, for what happened to Pete, that was Pete’s choice. Pete was a police officer before. Pete knew what he was doing and Pete definitely knew better. No, you should be proud of yourselves because you protected yourselves, you protected each other, and you protected the citizens and visiting guests of San Francisco from Pete. I am both truly sorry Pete put you through this, and also grateful none of you were hurt either.

Even if the cameras were meant to read 930 at night why is there a discrepancy in time? I would think that the whole purpose of wearing body cam footage is to make sure you have the correct date and time. And one other question. Once the suspect was down and the threat was neutralized. Why did they continue to fire their weapons?

He was like: "I'm gonna wax that little isht on the electric bike- Thinks he gonna pull that isht on me and get away with it, well I'll show him! Oh, he's on the sidewalk, well I can take the sidewalk, too! Just gotta mow down these innocent bystanders with my huge SUV, oh well, I'm not quitting, I'll catch that insolent little biker and ram right into him, that'll teach him a lesson!" Later, when confronted by the REAL police, he's like: "Oh, crap, I done it now...Might as well go out in a blaze of glory and point my gun at this large group of officers with their guns drawn on me and their triggers cocked" This was an event driven by ego- He wasn't gonna let the e-bike rider get away, and his maniacal persistence at what he felt was justice caused injuries to innocent people, and his fkd up thought process and ill-advised actions led him down an irreversible path to his own death. I think he knew that, as he tried to walk away from the consequences.
