Can anyone tell me how much it cost the government and the national assembly to chnage the Nigerian national Anthem? If it cost the government nothing, those that just want to criticize the government should just quit. The national Anthem is just a song and those that want to continue to sing the replaced national anthem could do so any time they want. For the law makers have changed the national legally and it does not require an election to do so. The country has a democratic system of government for twenty-five years and if the lawmakers deemed it necessary to mark it with change of the national anthem to reflect what is now desired in the country it was worth it. For Nigerians to make noise about an issue like this that was deliberated on by the National assembly and passed into law that did not cost the government one penny or kobo is equally a misplaced priority on the citizens that complained about the change The National assembly did not consider a priority or a change that can only be made under certain conditions but an idea that was suitable to elevate the spirit of the citizens and sense of belonging. It was not a distraction as claimed by those against it, rather the reverse is the case.
