Hi. Good morning. Thx for getting back to me! Glad you still have your great cadillac! I have my parents 58 cadillac they bought in 1960. I was 1 year old then. Southern California car, so that's been a good thing for it. Mom signed it over to me in 1982. She knew I wanted it badly! Lol. I'm a lifelong car nut. About 10 years ago, the transmission started leaking so badly I had to stop driving it. It had never been rebuilt, and the seals just failed. I put it away in my garage. 6 months ago, I finally was able to get it rebuilt. Very very happy to get it back on the road😊 I see yours has the rare Factory AC, as does mine. But since I've got it back, it SEEMS to me that the engine RPMS are running higher than I remember. It's definitely shifting smoothly and going into 4th gear. But at 45 50, the engine just feels like it's probably turning around 3500 rpms. The transmission shop drove it says it's fine, and that they didn't do anything that would change its gear ratios. So is it me? Maybe it's been like that, and I just don't remember.. or maybe it IS running higher Rpms than before. I will say my last few cars have had 6 speed transmissions, and my new 3 year old car has an 8 speed transmission. In this car, It's barely turning 2000 Rpms at 80 mph. So maybe I'm just used to them. Lol. Thx.
@brianandcindy114 күн бұрын
@johnfranklin5277 They would have to try really REALLY hard to change the ratios. If you are hearing all three shifts and no downshifts, it's probably fine. It shouldn't sound like high RPMs at 45-50. If you want to make a video illustrating what you're experiencing and send me the link, I will watch it.

the bug that occurs upon reaching stage 256 depends on the difficultly easy: crashes medium: a cross of a regular level and a challenging level hard: empty level and the game gets softlocked hardest: like stage 1 but on high difficulty (the game remains playable on medium and hardest difficultly but not on easy or hard)

Galaga is one of most infamous killscreen because overflowing 8 bit binary integer If we convert to decimal, 8 bit binary integer is between 0-255. If we try to add 1 into 255, the number will overflows & rollover back to 0 After completing level 255, level 256 will be rendered as level 0. As a result of 8 bit binary integer overflow. In case of Galaga games, the integer overflow causes various bug depends on your difficulty At easy mode, game crashes & resetted if reach level 0. At normal mode, cross between normal & challenge stage. And rebirth to level 1 as level 257 At hard mode, the blank level. Game is softlocked. The game got stucked in "Stage 0" text. No enemies approaches. So, the game ended without losing all of your remaining lives And at hardest mode, the level 0 looks like level 1. But, with increased difficulty. After you beat level 0, you'll advanced to level 1. Also known as rebirth Btw, 1:02 what sound is this? 😄 21-10-2024 from Indonesia 🇮🇩

So to anyone wondering why this happens, there’s a good explanation on a video of PacMan’s level 256, but pretty much, 8-bit systems can only pull an ID from 1-255, so when it tries to pull an ID of 256, it resets to 0, which it can’t, because it doesn’t exist, and then shit gets fucked and this happens

20:27 Regarding your point about the random fruit time - there is a set of incrementing timers that are used to pause when eating monsters and expire the fruit. They reset to zero at the start and restart of any level. They are tracked by hundredths, tens of hundreths, and seconds (at least, those are the only ones I'm concerned about). Hundredths are incremented each frame and only count to 6, which then increments tenhundredths to 10, which then increments seconds. If tenhundreths is currently 9 and hundredths is currently 5 when you eat the fruit, the next frame will increment seconds which consumes a full second of fruit time, resulting in the 8.91 seconds you mentioned. It isn't exactly random, because on a perfectly repeated pattern, the fruit will always disappear at the same moment. (at least, this is what I estimate, having studied the arcade disassembly to attempt my own clone). Update: I just noticed your detail on the timers at 51:21. The same group of timer bytes are used for the eaten ghost pauses and the fruit timer, so I presumed they are always the same for each pattern. If the fruit timer (which uses seconds and is 'random' from the value of the tenhundredths timer) is variable when the eaten monster timer (which uses tenhundreths and is 'random' from the value of the hundreths timer) is not, that means I have more studying to do. I assumed they were both reset with a level, because the monster pause timer is so critical for a pattern to work, otherwise the monsters get out of position as timers expire while eyes are running back to the monster box.
@brianandcindy16 ай бұрын
See the outtakes, where I show eating the fruit at one iteration of the pattern, but it disappearing before eating it in another iteration. I really liked that pattern, but I think it cost me 5000 points 1/10 of the time.
@kilroy9876 ай бұрын
@@brianandcindy1 I trust your results. I was just thinking that if the fruit timer is random, then so is the eaten monster pause timer, and that can significantly affect pattern success. I'll keep looking at it. Thank you for the detailed video!
@kilroy9876 ай бұрын
I tried out a pattern on level 1 in Steam Arcade Pac-Man. The fruit keeps disappearing at the exact same time. But maybe that version isn't coded the same as what you were playing here. Also, I realized that the first monster eat timer could be random, but once its timer is consumed, it has lined up the timer for the rest of the monster eats for the rest of the level. The first monster eat doesn't matter - the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones matter for timing. Since the first eat lined up the timer, the rest of them are now lined up properly. That's my current finding. I'll keep looking.
