Awesome technique I have played with down pillows several times in the past year, making them larger and making them smaller and having a huge mess of feathers everywhere in my sewing room, it’s crazy. I wish I had seen your technique first! Can you tell me what the finished size of your of your pillow cover and your down pillow are?
@BirdzofaFeather20 күн бұрын
Thanks Julia! Hopefully you can make use of the technique in the future if you ever do more down pillows. The pillow and the form are 20" x 14" :). If you're a crocheter, the pattern is available on Ribblr (all proceeds are donated to Alzheimer's research): ribblr.com/pattern/kayla-pillow-tunisian

Why do Americans collect junk, just throw it out! Get new!
@BirdzofaFeatherАй бұрын
I can’t speak for what Americans collect because I’m not American. This piece isn’t junk; it’s a valuable mid-century piece that many people covet and collect. It just needed to be de-odorized so now it’s good as new. We would rather see someone put it to good use again than send it to the landfill. We’re all about sustainability on this KZbin channel or we wouldn’t have anything to show 😉. If that isn’t your sensibility, I have to wonder how you found us and why you’re here?

Glad you like the video Chris! I've since put in a direct drive motor on my sewing machine so there isn't any noise at all. I don't think there's anything I can do with this video now, but I'll look into whether KZbin has any new features that will allow me to voiceover. In the meantime, you can turn off the sound completely and put on closed captioning instead.

Hey thanks for the nice video! I just stumbled upon it when looking for lasercut felt videos. Have you tried it with a diodelaser too? I can not afford the P2, i would love to know if light colours and white are really so difficult on a diode as everybody says.
@BirdzofaFeather2 ай бұрын
Hi Janita - I would assume so but honestly don't know about the lighter colours since there aren't a lot of laser makers working with felt - and I don't own a diode so can't try it myself. I did see someone layering felt and cutting it so perhaps you could add a darker layer on top and it would cut through both? It might be worth trying if you have duplicate pieces, but would obviously be wasteful if you don't. If you do buy a diode and try it, please let me know! In the meantime, I'll ask around and let you know if I find out anything.
@janita851Ай бұрын
@@BirdzofaFeatherHey Sarah!! I just came back to your video… still wondering what lasercutter to buy. That was the reason i asked you about a diode. I would want to cut felt and sometimes i read of people who cut it and other times they say it doesn’t work at all. There seems to be workarounds like increasing the power or cut times. I would love to have a co2 but i really don’t have the money for it, diode is just much more achievable for me 😅 maybe im gonna try getting a flux beamo. The p2 is completely out of my range 😬. I thani you very much for your answer and your work is very beautiful!

Hi! I just purchased a p2. Do you have to purchase that extra inline fan? Or can you just use the 3in that came with the p2 and stick it out the window?
@BirdzofaFeather3 ай бұрын
The inline fan moves a lot more air out the window and helps greatly with smell and fumes. Of course you can use the 3 in, but I don’t find that sufficient as far as indoor air quality goes. For indoor use, I really think the inline fan is a must for us.

My initial twinge of sadness at seeing a Singer get deconstructed faded when I remembered how few people would know how to do anything with such a model of sewing machine.
