It turns out the biggest weak point of this car is the front center dog bone, I've gone through two of them in the last year. No problems with the differentials, I race with the original metal internals and I race in mod. I may upgrade to the MOD MIP bi-metal center diff since the OEM breaks often.

Is a Motive 6000 or 6400 2s 100c good for racing or are they to heavy?

Those should be solid. I personally have switched to running LCG protek packs to save some weight on my 4wd but I still run full size packs from time to time with good results.

I love the tekin rs pro black. And I hate it lol Soldering the wires is not fun, the ears on the tabs are just too small lol, also hated having to put the capacitor on, also hate external power switches. The positives are that it has the absolute best internal resistance numbers I've ever seen and it gives you ALL the POWER! I think it definitely gives an edge especially in 17.5 stock blinky class. I have never found a need for using a fan on any of my cars but I only run indoor carpet in the winter. I love how small the RS pro is but I would be okay with it being a little bigger if they would ditch the external switch. Hate that. Im into pro level clean, short wiring and it Fs up my wiring OCD.

Hmm, I'm going by my experience with the original kit, which I had preordered, so it was from the first batch, and I didn't have any issues - as matter of fact, I thought the build was easier than the 22 5.0 DC Elite build - maybe the fact that the front and rear ends are pretty similar had something to do with it, lol. Anyway, I've since gone ahead and installed many of the Elite parts as they became available, save for the alternate Chassis stiffeners and the V2 bell crank. TLR typically does recommend that you add a bit of black grease when screwing into stiffizel parts; that composite is pretty hard, so I'm not sure if they changed to stiffizel arms in the Elite, but it is a good tip to keep in mind. Screws will tend to "squeak" while screwing them in otherwise.

Ya I have done several kits since this one including another 22x4e and it went much smoother. I stand by my experience of having some poorly threaded plastic parts but at the end of the day it’s nothing major and overall I still think it’s a great build and performs great

The guy in the video filled his front and rear differentials until they weigh 19.4g but the elite manual requires 19.7g. I stuck to the manual, just to be safe.

@@witnessrc4862 When I built the front diff, I experienced the same tight fitting issue with the plastic diff cup and screws. My front differential was seeping a little amount of fluid, so I took it apart and found the reason. I somehow managed to break the front diff seal in half (don't know how) and so I had to order a differential seal and hardware set (TLR232130), I got two just in case the center differential gives me issues (same part number). I would have begun this build sooner but I had to start from scratch and invest in all the tools, a table, and light. Been since 1994 that I built my 1/10 Trinity road car. My last hobby grade RC was an associate reflex db10 RTR junk box (wasted $350 plus batteries and a faster charger).

@@InstrumentvanVrede Sorry to hear that but glad you got it fixed. Unfortunately it seems like the front gear box/diff case is the biggest weak point on the car. I have went through 3 or 4 of them, and it seems like every race night at least 1 or 2 of the TLR drivers have to replace it.

@@witnessrc4862 Crap. I appreciate the heads-up, but I expect something about it to be flawed. Most RC cars have something that fails often, I hope whichever electronics I get don't give me too many issues,

I appreciate it! Good luck on the build and let me know how it goes. It is super fun and there is always something you can work on. Just take your time and do it little by little if you have to, I made a lot of mistakes my first time building and have slowly went through and corrected them. It is all part of learning it. Won't the composite gears break more frequently than the aluminum? They designed it with aluminum, so is this just a preference?
@witnessrc48622 жыл бұрын
In theory they are more likely to break but I haven’t had that issue myself in either of the kits I run, most come with composite gears and then upgrade to metal if you want to run a mod class motor. The performance boos from running composite gears is massive

@@InstrumentvanVrede FWIW, the composite gears are meant to withstand the power of 13.5 turn motors. Anything stronger than that, and TLR recommends that you run the metal gearsets. That being said, you can also replace the metal ring and pinions in the front and rear diffs/gearboxes with available composite ones, but ONLY if you run the center diff. They also recommend that you run the metal ones if you use the slipper center diff.

Do you have to have a program card for the punch on the Tekin Escs.
@witnessrc48622 жыл бұрын
For certain settings you do need the hotwire program card but you can do a lot of the basic settings by using the buttons on the esc. It is kind of awkward to use at first but it works. I don't believe you can change the throttle punch on the esc itself. I would definitely recommend getting Hotwire. It makes working on them much faster and less frustrating.
