How the FUCK did you record this? This is the best sound from most any live Zeke on the net. Best era too IMO. Death Alley changed my life. <3

For real, I've been to a ton of live shows and none ever sound this good. Either no vocals or too heavy on the snare/bass drum. This is as perfect of a live punk rock mix as you're going to get.

Hi, Thank you, most helpful. I live in a rural area of northern Việt Nam and do not have any access to refractory materials or know of anyone who knows about building out of clay bricks. Would you please tell me the inner dimensions of your oven.

@g.k3343 4 жыл бұрын
Hi if you don't have access to refectory mortar a mix of fine sand and Portland cement will do. I forget the dimensions of this oven but each firebrick is about 4 1/2 inches wide if you count them and add it up.

I saw Houseboy twice in '96 in Olney, IL and Carbondale, IL. One of the best drummers I've ever seen. I also saw him play with The Bollweevils around that same time in Olney. Thanks for posting this!

Aren't the steel rods bending in the heat? Would be afraid that everything crashes...
@g.k3343

Not an issue because all of the regular bricks were lined up so air flows through the holes.

No the heat does not get hot enough to melt or bend the support steel bed rails.

That's the fanciest dry s Stack project I've seen. I like the use of the chimney. This would be great at a rental house since it cam be easily taken down. Add a layer of cob and you'd have a semi permanent oven.

@g.k3343 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you I did want to make it as close as I could to my permanent ones. Yes insulate it and keep it permanent.

can i use regular brick only not fire brick
@Seezor
@Seezor 7 жыл бұрын
contraptor10221 Clay bricks yes typical concrete brick may crack. Fire brick for the oven floor is possibly the most important. Also a sand layer just beneath the oven floor will help ensure a flatter oven floor. If you're going to do this on any permanent level it'll help sliding your peel into the oven and not hitting uneven bricks.

You can but they will crack.

This may look hokey but our neighbor makes pottery and his kiln is built out of loose fire bricks-not mortared. His base is solid,but I dont remember how he did it.His kiln is gas fired so...I dont see why something similar for wouldnt work.

hi. can i use mortar in order to make it last for a long period rather than temporary? and do i have to put a chimney?
@g.k3343
@g.k3343 8 жыл бұрын
You could use regular mortar but i would not because it will crack quickly with the intense heating and cooling cycles. They do make fireplace mortar for this which I used in my new oven. It is called refactory mortar and its made for high heat applications. You do not need a chimney but then all the smoke and heat will be coming out the oven door at you. You would rather be able to see clearly in there to move coals around and tend to food. Thanks.

Regular mortar will crack but you could use high temperature refectory mortar if you can get some.

And no you don't have to put a chimney. Many don't but I like them.
