I think it is great that a young pianist pays tribute to Scriabin. I saw Horowitz playing Vers la Flamme and I knew right there that Scriabin was different, very deep almost eccentric maybe melocholic composer, very special! Thank you Maestro Senorita!

Kind of tucked away, it sits among a military post for retired service members, you reach the gate and have to check in.

Stole my work - I wrote her back in 2009 or 2010 saying I was working on my masters thesis found an article in a Colorado Newspaper saying that Mary Todd Lincoln has attempted suicide by visiting a local pharmacy and buying poison, but was thwarted by her son. I asked her if she could confirm the story. She did not reply with an answer, but curtly wrote me back and told me to read her book. Waste my time reading her book that did not contain the answer to my question instead of just replying in the affirmative or negative. While I was in graduate school!! I didn’t have time to read an entire book that she knew did not have the answer! She then wrote me back shortly saying that she would like like to see the article I found. I sent her a citation and the a scan of the article. I never got any reply back. No thank you, no nothing. Then come to find out she suddenly has “discovered” the world of mental health in 1860s on her own. Saying the idea came to her after talking to soldiers with PTSD. I found the “revelation” of hers convenient considering her sudden interest came shortly after I sent her the article. I wouldn’t be so angry if I had at least gotten a simple thank you for sharing my article. But I didn’t even get that.

Jason and I grew up on the same street, and went to high school together. I remember him as a great friend, and an average wiffleball player.

I was at this concert at the chapel of the Soldiers Home, just down the way from President Lincoln's Cottage in a quiet neighborhood of Washington. What a beautiful, touching evening of music from the Civil War era, capped by "President Lincoln" quietly coming into the chapel mid-way through the concert and sitting down in one of the middle pews among us. I enjoy watching this condensed version of the concert from time-to-time; it brings back wonderful memories. Thanks, Washington Revels!
