After not doing research and some cursing and then coming here.. A CR2032 also fits with some effort, it's thicker than a CR2025 so doesn't "click" in with the lid removed but will stay put if you hold it down with your screwdriver or something while you put the lid back on again fast enough. Why can't these manufacturers stick to one size? lol.

Thank you. Just pressed a cr2032 in instead of the slightly less thick 2025 and it worked great. Who uses 2025 anyway?

Other versions of the VW key fob take the battery upside-down -- positive down.

I got question - is a led light on the key always blinking when button pressed, or near car only? I replaced a battery today, but seems like it dead too, cause led still not responding.

Thank you. My key fob failed last night and noticed the led was dead. Then the second fob failed this morning! I thought it was that panel to remove but its such a good fit I wanted to be sure before i took a screwdriver to it!
