My dough does not rise that way. How long did you have yours sitting?
@oomabakerКүн бұрын
I had mine resting a couple of hours. Not sure what you mean by your dough not rising "that way". Did it rise at all? If not, then perhaps the yeast was not alive or you overheated (above 120 degrees) the milk/sugar/salt and it killed the yeast. This is my best guess. Hope it works out for you in the future.

can you use yogurt instead of sour cream?
@oomabaker5 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know! It might change the flavor but as long as the yogurt is as thick as sour cream, I guess it would work! Let me know if you do it and how it turned out.

of course you could add cherries however, I would use the glaceed cherries (the kind used in fruitcake) - they are already very dry and will not "compact" in the mixture like jarred cherries can

I love this video. My brother and I have been searching for years trying to find the Entenmann’s cheese filled coffee cake. We used to eat it all the time as kids. We have been to several states, but no luck. I profoundly appreciated and applaud this video. It looks amazing…and manageable. Desperate times. Thanks again!

We (dane's) don't put vanilla or any of the things you mentioned in our pastry dough, if we put any flavouring into our dansih pastry dough, we put kardemomme in it. Vanilla is something we put in the fillings we put into the dough, like creme.

We had this growing up during Christmas time. We would get them from Dewey‘s bakery in NC. We would drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the top when reheating.

Never have I ever used fresh ginger but I do use coarse cornmeal because if you use Quaker or Indian Head something like that it turns to sawdust. The coarse cornmeal does not and you can taste the corn! I love it that way.
