We go to Longboat Key frequently, and are members of Mote Marine Labs. On the dock on the bay side where we stay we see turtles and manatees. It's against the law to interact with these animals. But no one's told us what to do when THEY approach us - and it happens often. They seem to want the contact And I don't argue with them. These beautiful creatures are smart, and amazing. TY for sharing your encounter !

And then the stupid human removed the sea slug, that was cleaning my shell from the algae growing on it.😢 🐢 Seriously people, turtles swim up to Divers very often, because they are curious. Not because they want any interaction. The slug would have detached itself on it's own after eating up all of the algae that grows on the turtle shell. So this idiot removed the cleaning service.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ First rule of scuba diving. Don't touch anything, especially if you have no clue what it is and why it's there.

It’s thanks to these turtle videos I tend to take a folding knife with me when I scuba 🤿 in shallow places sometimes incase I came across trash or creatures that need help
