My first introduction to Buzz was with Neil Larson back in the late 70's. I fell in love with his groove and outside the box playing within that tight groove. Never lost enthusiasm or interest.Such an original. Compare this band with pop music of today if it can be called that.

I saw Oz perform in June of 24 and every single note played on every single tune was so precisely placed that it was mesmerizing. If you ever have the chance to see him live you must go.

To me this is the apex of commitment and flow, to produce such a wonderful sense of fluidity. Those sounds conjure such contrasting imagery spanning the folk history of the US and America. His music is to me a true UK national treasure, the way he channels traditional ballads with such craft is so distinctive

I was there, too (student 1989/1990), did an interview of the brothers before the show since I was making a little money as a journalist for a French musician's magazine (the same year I also did people like Scott Henderson (a great fusion guitarist but a total asshole imho), Frank Gambale, Al di Meola, Jeff Berlin, Jennifer Batten (who got her record deal after I got her the cover story of the magazine (very underrated musician, she could litterally play anything)), Paul Gilbert (whom I spent a whole afternoon with in his apartment after he came back from Mr Big's first world tour), Bruce Bouillet, Joe Diorio, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Lee Ritenour, Gary Hoey... plus a few more I forgot. I remember walking behind MI's main building (that small street behind the Church of Scinetology) and bumping into Ritenour & Carlton who at the time were my favourite axemen and they burst into laughter when they saw my state of shock. Anyway, listening back to this show, I must say it hasn't aged that good, and Greg was so much more impressive throughout the 1990's (especially on his fifth album.... the one starting with "Howe about it"). But it definitely brings back great memories... and that was the end of an era, that's for sure !

Such a KICK ASS band. One of jazz fusions best, if not the best fusion band ever. Saw them twice around this period in Buffalo, NY. So nasty! They should be recognized more for picking up a lot of what Weather Report put down.

Jamie Findlay made me cry in a lesson once. He was playing one of his original songs and it just tugged at my heart as my Mom was having a tough time. Will never forget how beautiful the music was and how much I appreciated Jamie for playing for me one on one like that. I don’t know if he knew I cried but I know he definitely knew that I really felt it. Amazing guitarist and person. Very kind and supportive as my private instructor in MI. I was very lucky to get him!!!

Super cool school until your private instructor tells you I’m not giving you advice on getting session gigs after he asks you your goals because he doesn’t want you taking them. 🫣 And that’s after they sell your parents of a 17 YO on “we have career placement initiatives for your student!”. 🙄 Alumni 2004-2006. If anything just move to Nashville and start playing and meeting people. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
