Great to see my hometown of El Paso, TX in the video. Had no idea they were purchased used from San Diego. I remember them when I was a kid. They ran until 1974 and they resumed in the downtown/UTEP area a few years ago.

I purchased the first 4 volumes of Railway Recollections back in the 1990's on original VHS format. I recently watched volume 5 on KZbin, a pleasant surprise (I didn't know a vol. 5 existed!) . Glad to see these films will get a wider audience via KZbin. They're now a part of Southern Ontario railroad history.

As a born and raised Baltimorean, I still miss our old PCC streetcars. I lived along one line as a young child and was 13 when the last two lines were converted to bus routes. I watched the cars being pulled out of the Irvington Carhouse to be hauled away as scrap in the Summer of 1964. Evidence of where they ran still exists in the form of rails poking up through worn down asphalt on city streets and power poles that served dual purposes still serving their other purpose - traffic lights, guy wire supports, or simply holding up a traffic sign.

I used to drive along that stretch of hwy 2 between Trenton and Cobourg several times a week, I have a feeling not much has changed in the rivalry between CP and CN, you can still see freights neck and neck tooling along, just that there is twice as many on the CN line. I live near Port Hope now and for every train on the CP trestle you can count 3 on the CN trestle including Via units. There used to be stories from when the old CPR north mainline through Glen Tay Kaladar, Tweed Havelock and Peterborough on to Toronto was still carrying passengers, the CPR would pull out of Ottawa and the CNR would too at the same time and it was a race, go like hell and the trains would pull into Union Station minutes apart with shell shocked ptsd passengers from the rough breakneck ride. Sometimes CPR won the race, sometimes CNR.

All the branch lines near me were abandoned and track removed all through the late 80's into the 90's. By 95 it was all gone, nothing left but the trunk line along the Lake Ontario hwy 401 corridor. All trucks now. Just north of me the CP Havelock sub still lingers on at 10 mph with only Unimin and IKO as paying customers, most of the spurs and sidings around PTBO have been torn up, just the mainline left dead ending east of Havelock. I give it another decade at most...

i currently live near yonge/eglinton, and remember back to circa 1980 working at the 'PizzaPizza' call centre; i tried to search what the exact address was, evening emailing their head office, to no avail; i only lasted a few weeks because i refused to follow their instructions to ask customers after the pizza order was complete "would you like any soft drinks or cigarettes?"; i refused to mention 'cigarettes'; they fired me...i am sure i pass the building every day but can't for the life of me remember where exactly it was; maybe it was knocked down...

I’m disappointed that I never had the chance to ride these Orion IVs during any of my trips to Niagara Falls between 1999 and 2012. I wonder if any still exist somewhere, even if just at a scrapyard…

Yes, the glass dome shaped buses with the trailer hitch, green and grey stripes at the beginning are the old Orion IVs that Niagara Parks Commission had until the WeGo Nova LFS artics replaced them outright circa 2012.
