for those of you who dont understand, at my school if there are any visible marks, spills, rips, dents, etc its points off in critique. also, you would get points off in art juries if you have those. (at my school, its 20% of your semester grade. you present your pieces that show your different strengths and weaknesses. basically just a review of what you’ve done.)

I would actually sob, send like 5 emails to my proffessor to try and explain what happened- I would be freaking out so hard, ask for an extension, try to fix it, probably make it worse, and just generally go insane.

Same thing happened to me. I put it where i was told for adjudication, some asshat sprayed gesso flecks all across it.

I remember having to take a 70x70 inch canvas on public transport and then through campus (as a fine arts major at a regular school, not an art school) and omg I was not a fan of all the nosey eyes on me! 😭😭😭 was ridiculous lol

You could hypothetically say how it represents how out of control life can be, and how the only thing we as humans have in our control if the reactions to actions done by others 3. Cut the piece off 4. … beg for mercy as you try to explain to your professor the situation at hand, and how simply cutting off the damaged area would take away from the message you were trying to convey with your art

Two things I hate about school and getting graded for my art 1) The teacher will ruin your art by "critiquing" the art with anything that can make your drawing you worked so hard on look like someone degraded it with X's and circles for a damn grade 2) Someone spilling any fluid on my hard work that needs to be graded and critiqued and I have no time to redo them These two things make me rage so damn hard like come on, give us artists a break
