@@miguelsanchez4052 My seal is bad also. I actually had to change the bearing out again after 30 days, because the seal is leaking. I called and messaged vevor and they say they don't sell the seal by itself. I have gone to several pool supplies and they don't have that seal. It is much larger in size than common pool pump brands. If you find it please let me know.

Good morning, Little tip, after your work, you should have left the box in the unlocked position. Then after having put it back on the steering column at this time you use the small holes made before to turn in and put the box back in position to lock on the steering column directly.

@@MojoJojo.1 It never made any sense why this pump can't be shipped to California when it is the most earth friendly way to pump the pool water since it gets it's power directly from the sun and has zero draw off the grid. You think that's what they would want.

I'm just amazed that the bought was built with no waterproofing on the plywood floor. I'm leaning toward fixing it, but I will cover the new wood with epoxy resin.

You say engine's good, if the sterndrive, transom, and stringer's good, you could have a fun project. Rip & replace the floor, repair those seats, drain & replace fluids, carb clean, and get some fresh bellows on. See where it takes you from there.

I'm gonna open up the floor and see how bad the rot is...
@elninorata3891
@elninorata3891 2 ай бұрын
If the floor is rotted out, there may also be stringer and transom rot damage, as well. I would rip out all the floor, and check the stringers and transom. It's a lot more labor than parts cost to repair. The hardest work would be replacing part of the transom plywood, if needed, because you'll have cut out the bad section and piece in back in, glue everything back together, then fiberglass it afterwards. Just take your time fixing it and don't buy expensive marine plywood, get the stuff that has knots on one side and put that face down. Use some type of water protection coat on the side carpet of the plywood. Use cheap home depot thin carpet and spray on carpet adhesive. Material cost would be 2-4 hundred depending on extent of damage. But before you do anything make sure the engine and outdrive are in good running condition. After that cost is estimated, then you can see if the rest is worth fixing.

Thanks for your input. The motor ( 4.3l Mercruiser) and outdrive are in good working condition. It was never in salt water. I'm going to open up the floor and see if the rot spread into the stringers and transom. I tapped all over the transom and it seems solid.

I would have gone with the larger pump if it was available when I did the project, but mine is doing just fine for a year now. The pool water has been the cleanest it has ever been compared to when I was using the AC pump that I didn't run as much due to the cost. The solar pump starts running as soon as the sun comes up.

The motor can only be replaced if the old one still worked. Once the old motor seizes you cannot simply replace the motor. There is a component on the board that also goes when the motor seizes up. Beat option is an emulator

It did discolor the roof, so I won't be doing it on the other side of the house where the shingles are in good condition, but it does seem to be holding the granules. At the end of the day, this is a stop gap measure to get a bit more life out of the deteriorated shingles.

@69jeeper Hey Thanks for your video. Mine has been running since July and I'm saving a lot of money on my electric bill. My calculations show I've already made my money back. What symptoms did you have when the pump went out? If it was the bearings maybe they can be changed?

@@fixanythingdiy The pump was getting noisier and noisier, the wife was like something is wrong with the pool pump. So after it quit working (luckily I bought the replacement about a week before) I tore it apart, the seal failed, which caused the bearing on the pump side to fail. My next thought was drill holes so when the seal fails, the water won't make it to the bearing and you know you have a bad seal when it starts leaking water on the ground. And make it last longer. Thus I would need replacement bearings and a replacement seal. I am hoping next time I tear it apart I am able to locate some replacement parts instead of replacing the entire pump.

@fixanythingdiy
@fixanythingdiy 5 ай бұрын
It's working great. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner, with all the money I wasted to Edison over the years to pump the water. I have 6 230w solar panels running it configured in series parallel so there is 90v going into the controller. Be careful when you wire the panels not to exceed the max input voltage to the controller. If I had a bigger pool, I would have gone with the 1200w unit but would need higher wattage panels.
