@91CavGT54 сағат бұрын
Safety gear is always underrated, regardless what you are doing. Hearing protection, eye protection, even a helmet, riding jacket, and riding gloves when riding a motorcycle. Accidents happen, that is why they are called accidents. You can’t regenerate limbs and body parts, so protect them.

A cord of wood is called hemp for like hanging pots or speakers in the 70s. Henry Ford actually made a car body out of hemp and he couldn't even dent it with a sledge hammer. Hemp is the fastest growing wood source known to man and has tons of uses. Hemp comes from cannabis plant but name changed to Marijuana so it can be concidered illegal aka mo taxation via arrests. Oh whats that? Fire wood oh chit, nevermind

Hey I’m moving in two weeks and I’ll finally have a fireplace again. My first place ever to myself. What is the best wood to use on indoor fireplaces? And I also will not have access to the woods anymore so I’ll need to buy a half cord to start. What are fair prices on half - full cord?
@travisdoe4663Күн бұрын
Hardwoods like oak, madron, Maple, Bay or pepperwood, and most fruit or nut trees. ect. As far as price goes that's a regional thing. In my area a cord of nice bone dry madron is going for over $500 a cord right now. Now you can burn softwoods too like Fur But you'll end up needing more of it. I would suggest going online and Googleing Dan's firewood chart. And buy a moisture meter. Make sure that the moisture is under 20%. 15% or less is more ideal but 20% will burn.
@Wil_Liam13 күн бұрын
True cord is 4' tall by 4' wide,by 8' long,or any combination of those measurements.. A face cord is 1/3 of that and is a newish form of measurement started by firewood cutters to make more money for less wood than a half cord would be... A ripoff to the consumers is a face cord unless the price reflects 1/3 of a full cords costs.
@Cabin_Dad3 күн бұрын
Dude - I’m gonna pay for saying a cord is 8ft tall instead of 8 ft long in the comments. But to your point. People sell a pickup of wood calling it a cord. It’s a face cord.
@Wil_Liam13 күн бұрын
@Cabin_Dad It's cool, as a 4' square pile 8' tall is the same whether stacked upwards or horizontally 😉 and yep those 5.5 or 6' long beds are only 18" tall and about 5-5.5' wide and it's definitely a rip-off if one was expecting a full cord...

Sweet!! That is how I started with my solar journey. A little system, that grew, and grew, and grew, and parts were replaced. Now I’ve got 5 solar systems. One big one, one medium sized one, and 3 small ones. Because 2 is 1 and 1 is none. That little setup will DEFINITELY work!! Just remember to turn the power inverter off anytime the range is not being used to conserve battery life.

Just go and chop the bloody wood brother! If you spent as much time trying not to cut firewood, you would have been done already by now. It's good to have a backup in place. But if you get your firewood right you will not need a backup.

You maybe better off looking for a battery ignition system like a "Unique Propane Range" or an outdoor set up like "Blackstone grill" There are some propane stoves for sailboats. At any rate a small battery generator with a small solar cell to top it off may work. I can not see a solenoid taking that much to open up.

Do you have any cordless electric tools? A lot of times, you can find that those same cordless tool manufacturers also make power inverters that run off of the same tool batteries. I know it’s not a permanent solution, but it can get you by for a few months until a more permanent solution can be found. That is, if you have a generator you can occasionally fire up to recharge the batteries.

I am of grid and use a propane colman stove. It's a 2 burner propane fold up camp stove that's about 10lbs. Any good outdoor store should carry a similar item. It's probably less than $150 and it can be manually lit with matches or a lighter.

Maybe you can take it apart and give it power once to get the solenoids to open, or reverse the circuit so it defaults to open then just tac them or stick them open permanently, or remove them entirely, and control the gas flow at the canister....
