I don't think he is underrated. He only plays in his way... his performance alive doesn't sounds like Studio records...

I was a young lad in the uk and put on the the tv and the Tube was on a show presented by jules holland, Robert cray was playing and was half way through his set, I listened for 15 seconds, said ''who the hell is this guy''and put a VHS tape in,. Then bought everything he had done, been a fan ever since. He has been my top 3 favorite artist , to now 2022, others are John mayer and Dire straits.. Today they churn out repetition with a chorus that repeats and repeats until I channel flick and turn off to remember the old days

First started listening to Robert Cray in high school. That was years ago but this has always been one of my favorite musicians. The lyrics tell such interesting stories. Each day I play I come just little closer to his impressive sound.

Mr. Cray is very underrated as a guitarist.
@scottmatheson23909 жыл бұрын
+Paul Kasputis no doubt about it. Robert plays with great finesse and artistry. As a player myself of many years I can certainly attest to the surprising complexity of his style (not to mention his soul drenched, mind boggling string bending technique and phrasing!) Anyone doubting this should have a closer listen to a few of his recordings and (if you are a more advanced guitarist) learn a few of his licks. He's the man.
@paulkasputis59789 жыл бұрын
Scott Matheson I know what your saying, I have worked on his songs and licks. For me what he is capable of playing on the guitar while singing is amazing. Then his solos have this formula that most people don't get. He gets into discord then resolves it ( kind of a jazz thing). I went to a Robert Cray concert a while back - 80% of the people I talked to were musicians.
@brucemills7318 жыл бұрын
+Paul Kasputis i dont think so anyone who listens to his playing can tell hes amazing unless there deaf even just watching the guys hands is amazing
