Very well thought out. I always wonder if we could go back in time would we have been any different? I could have easily been persuaded that the sexual revelation would be a good thing. The boomers did leave a mess, but also a lesson of what doesn't work, and that's valuable.

What a great video, Daniel! Thank you for putting this video together!! I had never heard the term blowback in this context before, which is shocking. I was also raised in a very sheltered and privileged way, so I had been so blind to the effects of American foreign policy on the world around us until the last few years. I actually had no idea just how deeply America had an impact in Iraq and Iran. No history class I ever took even mentioned this type of stuff. I knew we had soldiers over there and that looking back we all agreed it was not the best thing to do, but I had no idea why. And the parallels to Israel’s attacks on Palestine/fight with Hamas is made so clear in this video!! I’m scared for our country’s future with our whole government being controlled by a foreign power, and now with the recent SCOTUS ruling on the Chevron deference, it’s only getting scarier. The first step towards fixing our issues is definitely learning our history and how we got here, though, and you are helping with just that! Thank you for speaking up about this and putting so much effort into this video and sharing your references. I’ll be looking forward to a part two if you end up making one!! And thank you for the shoutout! I really appreciate knowing there’s someone out there listening to what I try to share haha

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Nick! I really appreciated some of those infographics you shared - it definitely cut down on some of my research time. It's a crazy crazy situation when you look at how much our country has mucked up. I think a lot of it is inadvertent - incomplete information, mixed with a bias towards shoddily planned intervention just to create the impression that we are "doing something" worthwhile. Unfortunately I think that's the inevitable byproduct of a country having superpower status; every mistake has world-historical consequences. If Russia or China end up gaining the kind of prominence our country has historically had since WW2, we'd see more of the same. I especially wanted to touch on the role of all these escalated conflicts in destabilizing populations and creating refugee crises (Ukraine, Palestine etc) and looking at the political/economic blowback of that but I completely ran out of time (wanted to keep the vid under an hour long lol) Chevron is a fascinating issue I need to read more about. As far as I see it we're kinda screwed either way: both our regulatory agencies and congress are broadly corrupt and influenced by the revolving door of lobbying. Up until I guess right now, our Congress could write the vaguest legislation ever and rent-seeking lobbyists could direct regulatory agencies to conveniently interpret those laws in all sorts of ways; now, we will probably see a lot more laws that are thousands of pages long and full of secret clauses that corporations can take advantage of (like NAFTA! Another subject I didnt get around to in this one). I can't be sure if it's an improvement or if it makes things worse, but one thing's for sure: things are not working in the way our founders intended and there is way too much corruption. It would be great if our congressmen were intelligent and responsible people. It would be great if our regulatory agencies were perfectly meritocratic and technocratic. And it would be fantastic if our Supreme Court was not filled with Partisan ideologues. Unfortunately everything is screwy.

Hey@@ZoomerUnion, you are just getting started on unraveling the quagmire that is the american foreign policy starting from the 20th century all the way to the 21st century, how the cold war was actually a hot war. Here are some of channels that i would recommend on starting your journey, GDF official and the Jakarta method by vincent brevins. What you are about to see is something that is not for the faint of heart of someone who cares about the country i assume. If you want any alternative and independent news media, i highly suggest you watch the grayzone and breakthrough news. Oh boy you have a lot to unlearn and learn by the journey is worth it. Anyways, we are heading towards a multipolar world order.

Also@@ZoomerUnion, judging by the video, you seem to be an anti-communist I presume, judging by the fact that you called communism a religion which is not by the way, it is what comes after socialism which is the next stage of development after capitalism. As usual, the US government and its capitalists class has lied a lot about what communism and socialism is through their red scare which is still effective today. I know that you are not fond of the soviet union, but would you be interested in their perspective of the matter ? Like why a lot of the anti colonial and resistance movements chose socialism and communism ? Here is a video about defending the soviet union from a pro soviet perspective, kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnPdga17raZlgZY
@ZoomerUnion3 ай бұрын
@looiyuanjieyuanjie1451 Communism absolutely is a religion. Specifically it is an eschatology that believes a mass movement can resolve the contradictions of human nature and bring a final end to history. It is an incoherent and evil doctrine that brings death and destruction wherever people attempt to implement it. Replacing western propaganda with even more fabricated propaganda produced by authoritarian/totalitarian regimes does not make you a free thinker, it just makes you a different kind of gullible.

Here is how I would have done it: Phantom Menance: "You can make many plans, but the Force's purpose will prevail" (paraphrasing Proverbs 19:12) (Discovering the Sith and Anakin, were essentially surprises) Attack of the Clones: "Nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor anything that is hidden will not be made known" - Luke 8:17 (The GAR being a secret, Clone Wars) Revenge of the Sith - "Death and Life are the power of the tougue, and those that love it will eat its fruits" - Proverbs 18:21 (Anakin making the choice to turn evil) I used Bible verses because they profound truism and they represent the prequels well.

The only prequel that feels like a slog to me is Attack of the Clones. Between the opening on Coruscant up until the starfighter chase above Geonosis it is kinda boring. But that's only because the dialogue is so awful. Phantom Menace is paced like a traditional Lucasfilm adventure movie and Revenge of the Sith is pretty much all gas and no brakes
@tristanmoore96535 ай бұрын
@@ZoomerUnion TPM’s probably worse than AotC pacing-wise, at least in my experience watching it with others. The ending is exciting, although one could argue somewhat emotionally unearned and overwhelming. Four intersecting climaxes after a movie that’s mostly a lot of stoic talking (sans pod racing) is discordant to say the least. AotC’s intro is a little exciting, and its finale kicks off a little earlier and doesn’t let up. But that middle chunk is brutal. Honestly, same with RotS - once we get down on Coruscant and up to Anakin’s fall, it’s a lot of shot-reverse shot talking and not much happening that isn’t played out or obvious. RotJ suffers from a similar problem, but it’s got a little more going on in the middle that keeps it exciting; likewise, ANH is a little bit of a slow start up until Mos Eisley, but it’s an older movie that has to introduce more, so it gets a pass.

Well, on one hand it was a joke in the context of the scene, but it also contains a deeper meaning. My thinking was that the narrations with Tom Kane are basically wartime reports by an official Republic propaganda outlet (during the TCW show and consequently for the movies that take place during the Separatist crisis) but that the Maul narration would be like he was delivering a briefing to Lord Sidious. @@ZoomerUnion No, it should be the Republic propaganda outlet. There's no way Maul would be delivering that kind of report to Sidious. Pretty sure Sidious only learned of the Jedi ambassadors from Nute Gunray. And the opening crawl sounds very pro-Republic. When the Sith were on the Trade Federation's side, would Maul use the term "greedy?" Also, Maul didn't get involved until Queen Amidala's ship flew past the blockade, so I doubt Maul would know about the circumstances around the supposed negotiations. Sorry, but Maul's voice really doesn't fit The Phantom Menace opening crawl. It should be Tom Kane's voice like the others.
@ZoomerUnion5 ай бұрын
@@SeanWheeler100 I believe the Sith were very aware of the Trade Federation's greed and were perfectly willing to cynically exploit it. They were by no means enamored with those Neimoidian slimes, as Sidious himself expresses exasperation multiple times with Gunray et al in the movie and of course, they are disposed of once they stop being useful in Revenge of the Sith. No love lost there. When Gunray tells Sidious that there are Jedi ambassadors present at the station, Sidious doesn't express any surprise. He just says the Chancellor should've never brought them into the situation. As Sheev Palpatine, his first lines over hologram are in relation to the Jedi ambassadors not having made contact. I believe both personas of Palpatine were fully aware of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's mission. Finally, I fully believe that Maul was completely in the loop about the Naboo plan and probably was deployed to do reconnaissance on aspects of the mission that Palpatine/Sidious could not. There would be no reason for an asset as vital as the Sith's (at the time) sole confidant and apprentice being kept out of the planning of the mission. Also, I don't really buy into the idea that the office of Chancellor Valorum was in the business of manufacturing populist propaganda to stir up the galaxy.
