Try to be a little more positive broski lol dam, I like your content man I watch your videos but you ain't never going to hit nothing being that negative. You got to put that positivity in the air! And hobby really isn't worth it, I don't know why but the last year I've been pulling better cards out of retail. Hobby is too damn expensive anyway, kind of takes the fun out of collecting, can't afford that stuff in this economy!

A small question/criticism on the low-numbered cards coming back, and it has to do with some of your other vids showing you opening up packs. Really harshly. My take on that is, I always take it easy and use a scalpel to open the tops, and carefully slide out the cards. Never know what's in there. Grabbing the pack like it was a baseball, tearing open the pack, possibly torquing the cards, nicking the corners, or even sliding the cards against each other like a knife... could always introduce damage to the card that's worth everything. Yeah, you want to open them fast for the video, but I cringed when I saw how you opened and handled the cards. Am I wrong? But great videos. Best of luck!
@sawyergsports8 ай бұрын
Fred, you are not wrong. I think it’s important to point that out. I do open packs pretty recklessly, and I could be more careful, if I really wanted to I could open the packs slower and less aggressively and probably even wear gloves and not stack the cards, good tips for keeping cards in mint condition

how is there a 1/3 chance of pulling an auto if there are only 2 autos in a box of 144?
@sawyergsports8 ай бұрын
The math is based on packs, each hobby box contains 12 packs of cards, usually there is only 1 auto in a pack, so if there are 12 packs total and 2 of those 12 packs contain a auto, then the odds are 2/12 or 1/6, but since I got two packs instead of one, my odds of getting one of the two autos is 2/6 or reduced to 1/3.

Hello. Im real new to all of this. Are the prices your putting how much more the card is worth after grading or how much the cards worth now you graded them? Thank you.
@benjaminelwyn5051 Жыл бұрын
it’s likely the worth of the card, if some base cards don’t receive a 10 then they won’t really be worth much but if they do then they can be worth good money in a few years
@sawyergsports Жыл бұрын
Guillermo, thanks for asking those are good questions. Yeah the price I am putting up is what they are worth after they have been graded. You can subtract $15 from each value if you want to get an idea of net value of each card, but since I started the video at -1000 (which was the cost to grade every card) I ended up with a positive $1500 or whatever that final number was. Keep in mind these numbers are estimates based on comps from eBay and other marketplaces

Great video! I only just started collecting and I have like 0 idea of what cards are worth what. I think I pulled a silver checkerboard rated rookie David Roddy today. Is it any good? Have you or have you thought about making a video explaining the different types of cards? Would help a newbie like me out a lot!
@sawyergsports Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is a good idea for a video, it can be super confusing between rookie vs non-rookie cards, inserts, parallels, numbered cards, etc. I would start by just trying to find a duplicate of the card you have on ebay and see what it is selling for, if you can't find that try and find a comparable card like another player from the same draft that is a similar level of player as David Roddy in a similar parallel like checkerboard.

Topps was huge in the 90s, I love their Topps Finest and Topps Stadium Club. I opened at least 6 Bowman 1st hobby boxes and still zero Wemby. Kyle Filipowski might be a top 20 pick in 2024. The fine scratches can be removed with Kurt Cares's products.

Someone like myself getting into strictly basketball what packs are you suggesting (autograph, memorabilia, numbered) vs what you’d tell someone to stay away from. Considering fanatics now has the rights.
@sawyergsports Жыл бұрын
It depends on what you are after, if you are looking for rips that I wouldn't worry about autos, memorabilia, or numbered cards. I would say that numbered cards are the most sought after, low numbered cards like 1/1, /5, and /10. RPAs are also highly sought after true rookie patch autographs, but those are all really expensive cards for top players
