I love Colleen Hoover but I think I prefer her thriller type books. Such as Layla and Verity . I have also read Never Never series she wrote with Tarryn Fisher which I loved . But then I recently finished her debut novel called Slammed which is book one in a series. And I did not care for the last half of the book 😂

Hi Vivian, I'm using Wondershare PDF Element and it works for the planner. It just messes up some of the clickable areas, like the "buttons" left and right that bringt you to pages 2 and 5, respectively. But it's an easy fix. When I try to click something and it doesn't work, I just have to quickly go to edit mode and adjust the area, takes only a few seconds.

When I started my bookblog, I mostly read YA fantasy and mysteries. But I wanted to "better myself" and challenge myself, so I started reading books that were deemed more serious and literary. And for a long time, I truly loved that these were books that I needed to work for, so to speak, because many of them were their own reward. I felt less and less drawn to the kind of books I used to love, but how much of that was a false sense of good books vs. bad books? The German Bookprize picks 20 bookbloggers every year to be the official "Bookprize Bookbloggers", who talk about the books and review them. My dream was to be one of them someday, which prompted me to read and review mostly literary fiction and turn my blog into something that would be "worthy". Was it fun? Yes. Did it kill my enjoyment of books that were "unworthy" of literary regard? Yes. Well, I was one of the Bookprize bloggers last year, and it was fantastic. But I have to admit: When I attended the award ceremony, there was an overwhelming sense of freedom. And guess what I'm reading now? Right. Books that "serious" literary critics would scoff at. Because they are fun. Because they are worthy. /soapbox

I started using Goodreads in 2011 and tracked my reading with it for more than a decade. Lists, numbers and tracking just appeal to my autistic brain. But I see what you mean about 'consuming books'. For me, challenges are even more dangerous in that regard, because then I read to tick off the challenge prompts.
@thefigtreeboutique
@thefigtreeboutique Жыл бұрын
Yeah...I don't usually do challenges for exactly that reason. I guess I forgot about that when I decided to do the All by Colleen Hoover challenge this year...I do feel some pressure to tick those off a list or to not fall behind and end up needing to read 20 Colleen Hoover books in December just so I can say I did it. But so far, I'm not sorry I'm doing it, even if "Two More Days" almost did me in. 🤣 If you hear me talking about doing a reading challenge again for 2024...please remind me about this. 🔔

Yeah I agree, the pressure of reading books that people think are “more acceptable” and “better” is really there especially when you’re talking about romance. When I started reading I thought I should be reading YA Fantasy because everyone was reading that but I started getting interested in romance and first I felt bad. Like there was something wrong with reading romance or any book you want to read but if you think it’s acceptable and better than it is because you want to read it
@Tinasbookandcraftcorner
@Tinasbookandcraftcorner Жыл бұрын
I feel the same way especially about that “consuming” books part. I’ve been using Goodreads since I started reading 4 years ago and marking a book as “read” is for lack of a better word addictive. I won’t allow myself to read a book that is not a goodread, which is upsetting because that’s happened multiple times. I really wanted to read a book but it wasn’t on Goodreads so I don’t let myself read it.
@thefigtreeboutique
@thefigtreeboutique Жыл бұрын
Yes. This. "Marking a book as read is addictive" and I feel like it shouldn't be because then I'm not really enjoying the actual book--I'm enjoying ticking it off the list. Also, I didn't realize that there were books that weren't on goodreads. That would really be annoying if you were using goodreads to track your reading.
