I can tell you this, after doing a lot of checklist as a crew member, airborne in irregular and emergency situations. Luthansa need to go to the civil Aviation authority and have a go at changing the culture, and normal procederes, befor deciding to shock the flying community with this foolish perspective, From the cockpit you do not allays know the full extent of damage done to the aircraft system and the turn rate is not the same when there is an engine out. Reminds me of those British Airways idiots who crossed the atlantic with 3 engines instead of returning to the departure airport. What did you guys have for lunch, Oktoberfest??

Yeah a 747 is more than capable of flying safely and turning with 3 engines. Any skilled 747 pilot AND the computers know how to take that into account. The passengers probably didn't know unless it shot flames or got hit by something. Fun fact a 747 actually has a mounting bracket on the inside of the left wing to transport another engine... And that also throws off the balance but again... It can handle it
