Great video man - I shoot primary boxing and just upgrading to the Z8. Shooting on a GH6 usually and pulling focus manually is possible but a ball ache. Your lighting and fog setup is very insightful. I’ve for a portable fog machine but usually shoot whilst gyms are being used during training sessions so it’s a no. Do you cover the smoke alarms to stop them going off? Subscribed

This is my original real cinema camera. I have two of them. Also the BMMCC OG. What makes these cameras special and worth tracking down is the Fairchild sensor. Just gives it a look of it's own. Beside MFT lenses, I use classic cinema lenses from Angenieux using a C to MFT adapter. I have the whole set of the primes and the zooms as well. They are amazing in their own right. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. I have given up chasing anything over 4K for my walk. When it comes down to it, this camera produces fantastic cinematic video. Likewise, I also use the NPF series battery solution, I also use Davinci Resolve for my video editing exclusively. You are a man after my own heart.

Nice video. Base iso is 800 but if you give it enough light 400 is cleaner. That’s how Will Von Tagen shot a feature film with this camera. He also produces the best full cage imo and he might be the only option if looking for new cage. I have this camera too and I’m in the process of kitting it out.

Mate, I re-bought and sold it last year after watching too many new videos praising it too much. Had it back in 2013, but sold for GH4. And buying back used BMPCC OG was exactly like reconnecting to your ex: she looks amazing, and even sort of different after all these years. But thing is she didn't improve, and all the things that you forgot about her, that made you break up are now immediately obvious. Focusing, display, battery life, low-light (in)capabilites, bad rubber, visible sensor moire (that "grid" many users can see in post), RAW issues, bad sound - those outweight the pristine picture way too much. Compared to newer cameras it waaay too much of a hassle to consider it for daily or regular work. And I'm literally crying that these issues are know since the first reviews and one-year user reviews. BM could've just updated it based on the issues and the feedback, we could've been living with 1080p in this form factor, but wish it was suited for ease of use.

It’s crazy that when that camera was released, so many people complained about the flaws of the camera….poor battery life, bad display. My thoughts was, who cares? Have you seen what kind of image it produces? 😆 There should have been a renaissance of short films when this camera was in the wild. Too many complaints on the usability and that you have to rig it. Anyways…..now people appreciate it 😆. Another underrated camera is the Sigma FP. I don’t care what anyone says, that camera produces the best image out of anything released currently, except for ARRI and RED. Plus it’s a low light beast. Colors are amazing…has great tools like focus peaking, false color, EL Zone. It has histogram and waveform. Has Timecode. All of this for less than $1K. I predict a mass amount of people singing its praises in another 5 years 😆
@PeterDiBussolo11 күн бұрын

As an owner of an ARRI Alexa Mini and Amira, Ranger Monstro, Monstro DSMC2 and Ranger Gemini, and Sony FX6 and FX3 (different tools for different jobs / environments), I love reaching for my REDs whenever I can. And, the DSMC2 line is definitely a buyers market now with how inexpensive they’ve become, and with how much performance you get out of them. I definitely enjoy the look I get out of the AlevIII sensor from my ARRIs (which comes with the price point of those cameras), but the DSMC2 line (especially Monstro and Gemini) are absolutely no slouches, and get plenty of usage on my professional projects, especially corporate and live event work. Also, I love the cableless design, unlike the current DSMC3 offerings. And, the DSMC2 line of cameras will still outperform the majority of new mirrorless / hybrid offerings for the next 5+ years, easily. Also owned two Komodos, but sold those off as the image and DR wasn’t close to my Monstros and Gemini, and were ultimately collecting dust.

I own a RED Monstro 8K VV and I absolutely love it. As a DP who works for a lot of different brands… sometimes I’m asked to shoot on different cameras. I love the Arri cameras as well but other than that, I’d reach for my Monstro over any other camera. Even the new DSMC3 bodies are very annoying to me. They dont feel thought out to me.
