How did the train 'unemergency' it's self so that it could be on it's way again ?? Didn't someone have to reconnect the air hoses, or was it an application by the engineer himself for some why ?? Aarre Peltomaa
@musicforaarre2 жыл бұрын
@MARKIBEAN I'm a tractor-trailer driver, and I drive a cornbinder (International). I like the tractor, except, sometimes the airpressure is too low to switch gears in the automatic shifter transmission. There is Drive, Low, Neutral, and Reverse. Sometimes I have to park it at the dock, and then rev the engine for minutes until the air pressure in both the primary and secondary tanks is about 110 psi; Only then can I shift to Drive to leave. I love the automatic shifters except for this one nuisance point; not too much of a problem at all. It would be embarrassing at a customs booth at the border though. So how did the trains air pressure get too low ? Did he apply and let go of the brakes too frequently in a short span of time so that air was lost faster than the compressor could rebuild it ? In a tractor trailer, this would only happen when doing too many small moves in a yard, with too many frequent brake applications. On the highway, it would never happen unless you had an air leak; if it did happen one MUST PULL TO THE SHOULDER AND PARK IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE BRAKES LOCK UP AND YOU LOSE DRIVEABILITY. Unless CSX changed it's rules, the conductor should have had to walk the train to make sure all cars were upright and on the rails after an emergency stop. Anybody hear the radio chatter from this event?
@railgeekusa3 жыл бұрын
I did not have my radio on me. I was standing on the west side of the tracks, and it's very possible that the conductor walked up and down the east side.

@@NSHorseheadSD70 Well, that's NS, and it was the rule on CSX 20 years ago, but it changed in the early 00's. Maybe it changed back in the last 10 or so years as they try and get to one-man crews?
