IMO the animation carried this episode, I don't like the storyboarding here. I think because I was expecting too much especially seeing from the Manga. I expected COC haki still oozing the moment Shanks was walking towards Kid's Crew, I expected Kid's crew passing out the moment the Griffin Aura came out, I expected a slashing aura of Coc haki slicing it's path the moment Shanks release it just like Rogers, I expected Henry Thurlow's Aokiji aura animation or Rayleigh's Aura facing Blackbeard like for Shanks, I expected Shanks crew standing menacingly looking at Kid's Crew the moment Rockstar called Shanks to get back to the ship. I don't know man, If I would be the one making the Storyboard I would really made it more badass and cold.

Easily a top 3 episode of Egghead so far along with 1100 and 1101. Also 1089 was top notch too. With a week break between 1112 and 1113 and 1113 looking like a standard quality episode, I have to think they're cooking for upcoming content.

Love how he makes Kaidou look even more like a storybook villain/monster since one piece is influenced by story books like Vik the Viking and shown by the background edges always fading off like in picture books.

Ota is truly the goat 🐐🍯, the compositing was top-notch, as well. To top it all off, the pacing had zero issues. Easily one of the best episodes so far.

My favorite thing about his animation style is that it's incomprehensible, cramped, and badly choregraphed. Dude's the Rob Liefeld of Anime!

Its true that the animation level has increased, but I still hate it a bit when its "too 3d" and too "computerish" especially on some turn arounds that they did a lot in wano. So even though this is peak, I still miss the old school animation of the Dawn and I hope they can kinda bring it back or tribute it when the show is near the closure.

Still probably was a much higher budget than other arcs. I saw in another youtube vid that Wano was also the 20 year anniversary arc, so they worked extra hard to make it special. Of course the budget also needs to be allocated properly, not just throwing it somewhere and wasting it.

Thanks for this. I watched that episode and was shocked by the animation, especially the story boarding. My biggest question was whether they blew their quarter's budget by now. That had to be a very expensive episode. I noticed that a lot of the Wano battle scenes had the smoothness of animation found in many western animated movies (not shows) and was curious about that "non anime" touch. Now I know why, how interesting!

I went back and read the chapter this was about after I watched the episode, and it missed a LOT of content that this episode put in. A lot.

Honestly the smoke is one my favorite things animated lol. I know we're all focused on the people and action, but come on. That's some realistic cartoon smoke and dust.
