Well this is good to know. I just went from driving a quarry haul truck to driving a dump truck, and I developed a lot of bad habits from the haul truck. You pretty much do #1 and #3 all the time hauling dirt. And the haul trucks usually don't have a PTO switch either.

Just for trucking in general ,replace the nut on your air level valve ,if your on board switch fails you can dump your bags that way without having to shut off the truck and dump the tanks

Im having to the issue that the pump is always on. It raises fine and drops fine. But the pto wont cut off. If i press the clutch it disengages. But once i let off the clutch, you can hear it. All i jave to do is lift tue pull cable and up it goes. I have cut the air off to the up and down valve but its still engaged. Im clueless Any help would help out

Thank you Shea for the good advise! I was also taught to raise my drop axle before backing up to avoid damage to the tires when they drag. watch for over head obstacles such as power lines, porches and such, and of course closing and opening tarp. great video!

Can you clock a pto or pump to not hit air tank. It seems mine is hitting to the point where i would need to remove air tank and remount or get new smaller tank

05:24 #4 Shutting off the PTO. How to prevent operators from accidentally raising the dump box while driving down the road? These mistakes cause so much trouble for power lines, traffic lights, gantry signs, bridges, tunnels, etc. While they make for lots of fun viewing of dump truck fails on youtube, the real life damages seem to be easily preventable.

You need to turn the pto on and the bed up knob or lever in order to dump. You can rig a switch that doesnt alow the pto to come on when the truck is moving, but some jobs you want to raise the bed while moving. You need to be pretty spaced out to drive around with the bed up on the street. I saw an end dump carring 3x10,000lb boulders dump them on the freeway whille driving and then hit a brige in Southern California, probably 16 or so years ago.

Thks bro, ain't pulled a dump bucket since 80-81 mostly flat bed and refers past 30yr .Really great advice specially about the differentials and air bags.R model Mack spring ride- twin stick ,100% excellent program thks.
