Hey Saul, I learned about your channel from Paul and Anthony's channel. You have made me chuckle, well lol actually 😂, with your antics so I had to subscribe to your channel as well. From what little I have seen so far, you and your wife seem to be really good people that have a very fun and happy outlook on life. Anyway, I live in the states and am very envious of the narrowboat lifestyle. I wanted to say howdy (can ya tell I live in the southern US? 😁) and that I might be posting more useless comments like this one every now and again if that's alright. Hello there welcome to the channel I hope your enjoying our journey. The narrowboat life is truly stunning at times & has lead us to a less hectic life. If your able take a holiday (vacation) in the UK & hire a boat for a wee while. Beware though once you've done it you may never want to go home. From all the US movies I've watched it looks like you don't get any water in the south & most of your cars have more living space than our narrowboat 😂. We've really enjoyed travelling with Paul and Anthony they've been good sports even through the loss of Dexter. Thanks for commenting & I hope to speak with you again if KZbin will let you👍

@@barelyfloating lol... movies aren't the most accurate sometimes. We get plenty of water, lots of creeks/streams, rivers and lakes around where I live, just no canals...lol. Yeah, some of the cars/trucks we have can be ridiculously big too.😄

So you've started doing jobs that are on my to do list which basically means iv got to give myself a kick up the backside to get them done before winter , my boat is a former hire boat with two massive saloon windows either side and horrible brass frames which I want to repaint in a metallic chrome along with the stern portholes

@@barelyfloating thank fully I'm having a log burner fitted next month and new solar this month but in the meantime time I have eco flows hot and cold solar air con unit with its own battery storage so luckily I'm ok as I can adjust the boats temp in the slightly colder evenings but I'd say having the painting done by Christmas is very optimistic at this rate 😆😆😆 ps can you please stop uploading DIY vlogs that youv just done and I haven't done yet I already know I'm lazy 😂😂😂😂😂

I'm so sorry to hear about Dexter passing a way and as a dog lover I find it best to remember the good times you gave him and the happy home you gave him and you've also just highlighted the next job I need to do after iv finally finished repainting the stern and iv been putting that off door as long as I can 😆😆😆😆

Alas Dexter wasn't our dog he was Paul and Anthonys from Narrowboat life unlocked, although we had the pleasure of his company in his final days. Good luck with the door I hope the weather holds up for you.👍

Oh I did that on a window in my house last month, it was really fiddly..getting the backing separated involved a huuuuge amount of swearing. Trick I found was to cut it first as close as you can to the size of glass then its not lifted by the edges and spray both sides of the film with soapy water.. But cut it out you need a big clean flat surface which was hard in my house, so on Laura...hmm. Pull the curtains when its dark tho, or you'll draw a crowd !

Its ok in the summer but with the nights drawing in we might get caught out 🤣. The cutting out wasn't so bad Debbie used the bed, the worst part was cleaning the window seals as they kept giving up a bit of dirt every now and again.

Vicious little buggers them horseflies. The hay fever tablet seemed to help with the swelling though. Hope you are both well I see Rob has been promoted to head of paper clips🤣. Send him our best wishes and tell him not to work too hard.👍

Loving these videos. Have often walked from Pilkington bridge Clayton le moors out to Burnley & back. Always have a natter with the passing boaters. Did a little trip through Foulridge tunnel many moons ago when the kids were little uns. To my knowledge it’s pronounced fullridge

Only just seen this now. Good to see a cruise/video going as far south as Preston on the Lancaster Canal. Done a bit of hedgelaying work as a volunteer with CRT on some parts near the Ribble Link last winter and towards Haslam park if you pass/walk there again. Hired a boat from Ashton basin in 2012 and got as far as Galgate.

Thanks for commenting. We cruised to Preston 3 times, a lot less than we would have liked. All in all we enjoyed it apart from the weed. The southern half of the Lanky gets a lot of stick but is really lovely. (spoiler alert) Alas we have now left the Lanky & it looks like we won't get back anytime soon due to the broken sea lock. I was brought up near there and dad used to drive us up there for a day out on summer weekends sometimes. There used to be a Victorian orangery next to that pond. Long gone I think. We passed you the other day but had to move to the curly wurlies were in Gargrave for a spell then onto Skipton. We've got a busy couple of weeks looking after kids pets & children. we need to catch up soon & persuade you to give up that lovely mooring spot you have for us 🤣. I also own a BMC 1500 in a narrowboat and I have read that it is good practice to keep the glow plugs on after the engine has cold started for 10 seconds or so as this stops un-ignited diesel from washing the lubrication off the cylinder walls. The reason is that although you have used the glow plugs to warm things up before starting, after the engine has started, it is still cold so the diesel coming in will be below optimum temperature.
