the original CTR that went to the GATHERING OF EAGLES and the other high speed contests was their development car. the first attempt didn't achieve the desired speeds the NACA ducts were cut belly pan for the rear a shit-ton of work was done to that CTR and IT AND ONLY IT WAS NAMED YELLOWBIRD. RUF still drives and uses thatcar very often it also serves as the best Display for there showroom and museum. the only p`roblem is steph rosser is still living in the basement just waiting to to more legendary death defying sideways laps in all their cars. he wont go home(JOKE OF COURSE). truly one of a kind set of people and the company that's been through generations. building electric cars before the first Toyota exec got drunk and drew the Pruis poopus on bar napkin. this will remain a company to never be rivaled. PERIOD. cheers

This company is my favorite out there. I like Lamborghini but this is more exclusive. If I can get my wife to sell our house 🏠 and live in an r /v I would get a ruf 😂

no all CTR are not yellowbird. there is only 1 yellowbird and its still in use today. there are yellow ctr's but that is it!

that you your understanding that was there there test mule and the only car named yellowbird. your obviously a bid fan as well. no company will ever be in the right place right time and right era to do his again. that's why they deserve to be treated like royalty-because they are. hopefully I've gained a new Ruf friend. cheers

finally an actual visit and look at HQ in FL. im the biggest Ruf fan there is and ive never seen a real W09 car in my life. i tell my brother if hes going to keep his 18k guards 993 turbo why not send it to the family and have them do an authorized conversion. its such a bueatiful car in very very high #2 condition. thanks to me. he being the second owner now for close to 20 years im the only person who has touched it cosmetically. it places 1st every PCA event weve entered and several Hershey Porsche swap meets. no he says. he doesnt understand what i do when i fell i love with Ruf in 1984. if porsche is willing to take their best product, take everything off and toss it in the rubbish bin Ruf has to do it better than they can. i search everyday for new videos news any and everything Ruf. ive watch every video thats been made as well as written on their cars. i get mad when people say Ruf porsche-wrong!!!!! its Ruf automobile some are still based on porsche products but their own cars use i think 2 O.E. Porsche parts. the family seems to be the most important part of the company and every car they sell grows the family. . i'll never forget (i will destroy the proper name) but Mr. Alois uses his behind to test his cars. when that feeels right to him the power to weight, steering input exuast note and driving nirvana are reached. there is no better sportscar on earth. these could be considered exotics due to low pro., materials etc but you drive Ruf cars or you shouldnt own it. PERIOD. i will make to germany one dy to touch the hallowed ground but until then I assure there is no better family , company or car on this earth. no if you could procure me a 996 turbo r in arena red for a birthday gift that would be outstanding, hell i'd be indebted forever to even be in the same room as a w09 car. best wish to all the family. cheers

I owned a white one, dark red interior, white top and a Custom Coupe in rosewood poly, matching interior. Great automotive works of Virgil Exner imagination. Both drove and handled beautifully for large cars. I would love another one.

What did you do with it ? A car like that not for one to say I owned one rather one say I have one and I drive it in the weekends because it is a nice car but not for day to day driving.

I wish I could say that I still own the car. I bought mine when the Imperial was ten years old in 1972. A number of cars have followed, including two different Imperials. As the saying goes "you don't know what you have until it's gone". I have the memories, owners manual, and shop manual just in case an affordable car is available.
