MAN, that's awesome! The crazy thing for me though is that the only two times I've caught "big" alligator gar, have been saltwater fishing 💀 hopefully this year, I can actually catch a monster in their actual habitat.

Funny story, though. I've been trying to catch one at the Trinity River for the longest and have failed about 5 times, using special rigs with fresh bait and everything.

But turns out all I had to do was go to Galveston one random night and use whiting as bait lmao with my shark/redfish rig

I'm fishing an opening of the brays bayou in houston. They don't have smallies there because the water temperature stays very warm year round. But yes! it does look very similar, although a lot more green. If you want to watch me catch a real smallmouth bass (for the first time) go watch my Arkansas video (when you get a chance!) where I go fish a beautiful creek in the Ozark forest while watching the 2024 solar eclipse!

Nice! So at the Lower Falls (the second area I went to in the vid) where I was fishing from it wasn't too deep, probably went as deep as 2-3ft deep the closer I got to the actual water fall. (I'm sure it's deeper beneath the water fall though. But, I noticed that the Upper Falls is where more people go to swim. (It's bigger and I saw a lot of people jump from the cliff into the water) However, I did another trip after the video (which I'll be uploading sometime next week) I encountered what was either a "plain bellied snake" or a diamond back water snake" at the Lower Falls. It literally went up to me as close as 2 feet away from me while I was in the water so, if you do swim just keep an eye out for those. (I had to kinda smack it a bit with my fishing rod, luckily it didn't do anything lol.)

I guess snakes won't do anything unless you really bother them, but still be careful.
