Love the duffle coat and don't stand on the boxes.

No roll on roll off ferries then? MacBrayne's was a separate company from Caledonian Steam Packet Co.

Hi Diana, I was wondering if it would be possible to use a little bit of your footage for a project we're working on at the Islay Gaelic Centre?

The green boat shown is primrose OB182 built by nobles in 1946 later re-named elinda, fished from mallaig by the henderson family ring netting for herring and as seen here trawling for prawns. Believe it or not she,s still going converted to a liveaboard yacht, spends most of her time around the clyde and ardrossan area, beautiful boat, excellent film thankyou for showing us.

A delightful piece of film! Both of the Islay steamers are in it (Lochnevis in the first scene at West Loch Tarbert and then Lochiel there and at Jura and Islay), and the footage of Lochbroom at Oban is very unusual. Do you know where the caravan was pitched between the Islay scenes and the Oban scenes? It looks very craggy and scenic. I think the ship with the two buff funnels may have been Waverley when it was on the "Three Lochs" tour up Loch Long to Lochgoilhead and Arrochar.

Hi, glad you liked it! I believe the caravan site was the Forestry Commission site at Ardgartan.

Just had another look at the film & I think the site at the end was at Ardgartan. I'll have to check with Dad & get back to you.

I believe that the caravan site (between the Islay scenes & the Oban scenes) was about 4 miles south of Oban and overlooking the Sound of Kerrera. Looks lovely!!

@@dianamarshall-kay6776 Recognised it,did similar things with my mum and dad and younger brother.a few years later I was also up there regularly with mates climbing the Cobbler. We also had a Westie, ours was called Shona, great wee dogs, people were always stopping us asking if we would let Shona mate, with their Westie because he was getting bad tempered and a vet had said that was probably the problem. However mum never took anyone up on it,she'd had past experience of pups. Great wee film, brings back a lot of very happy memories.

Oh how wonderful! Which one is your dad? I'm the little girl in the blue jumper with my dog Toby. My Mum is the lady in the blue anorak stood at the back of the lorry towards the end of the film.
