Drill the holes in the liners first and use the liner to set the pin width of your Rupple-jig. That way they will always line up

Yes indeed! It makes quick work of a little filing job … you have to get use to it because you can mess up a project real quick with it if your not careful… it cuts a lot of metal quickly… I just had to get the feel of it … it’s an awesome little tool for sure !

It’s called a die Filer … the file on top moving up and down is a Swiss file that only cuts on the down stroke … there are different designs of them ,however , most die filers are obsolete … it’s a very hand tool for cutting the back square on a pocket knife blade .. I’ll probably show how it works on another video .

@johnbarnwell400 thanks for the info, I'm just getting started in the slip joint making. Made one now working on 3. I don't have a milling machine, gonna try with a drill press 🤔
@johnbarnwell4004 ай бұрын
@@gordonhamby9802 before I started milling the liners I use to make a 3/16 inch diameter pivot busing with a 3/32 hole in it for the pins .. I made the bushing out of phosphorus bronze , however , you can buy these bushings … you just need to drill a 3/16 hole in the knife tang and sand the bushings down to 1 thousandths wider than the tang of the blade … this was a challenge to do , however it works very well . You might get away with using your drill press to mill thin areas of brass liners possibly… however .. I will warn you ,, I ruined the spindle in my drill press trying to mill with it and had to replace the spindle … a drill press will not handle a lot of lateral force . Just be careful and don’t ruin your spindle .
