I have wondered about those internal mic.They block off the vent hole with the cable. So then how is the drum suppose to vent the air?

If you have a problem with it on a gig ,its not going to be a quick fix, you have to take off the drum head then figure out problem or have a replacement mic then put on drum head and tune it

In my 20+ years of performing professionally as a drummer.. I've never had an issue with a kick mic. Even if the mount somehow broke or came loose, the show would still work out great. You can throw a kick mic anywhere in a kick drum and get an awesome sound if you know anything about eq

If he has it hooked up in a bass drum that would be a easy fix,put a mic in the port hole but he has it hooked up in a floor tom

@@antonmaclean8418that's true, sorry, I was half asleep while watching this.. I'm familiar with this mount and it's typically used in kick drums.. regardless, I think it would still be fine in a pinch.. throw another mic on it, or move the overheads to pick up more toms.. etc etc, a million ways to get around it and that's IF you have an issue 👍🏼

I didn't actually - just reach in through the porthole - super easy. I didn't show this because I thought it was obvious but apparently I was wrong because this was a very popular comment on my IG account. I even had to make a follow up video showing how it takes about 3 sec to plug it in through the reso head porthole.

Awesome playing, man! A few years later, what are your thoughts on the Groove Ring, in retrospect? I’m looking to get some kind of hoop crasher type thing, and this is one of the ones I was considering.
