This is perhaps the most radiant pair of recent years in classical ballet. Such enjoyment!

Pity about the poor quality. Light and resolution.

Vadim is unique for the present times, but noticed he does not jump as high as Mikhail Baryshnikov or Rudolph Nureyev.

I don’t mean to discredit Anna Rose’s talent by any means. It is just odd to me that Kevin O’hare would promote someone without a strong enough technique to perform principal level roles like Juliet, Odette/Odile, or Sugarplum fairy. Other female principals promoted around the same time are amazing technicians (Mayara and Fumi). I wonder if he was feeling pressure to promote someone born and raised in the UK because of the rise of international talent in the company.

I beg to differ! I think her technique is beautiful, trained at the RBS and worked her way up through the company, very well deserving of Principal rank. I think each dancer performs differently, and yes, there will always be those dancers who are more “technical” but shouldn’t take away from her ability (I know that’s not what you were saying!). If you ask any dancer, there is always room for improvement!

Marvelous!!! She needs no overacting, no whirlwind pirouettes; people love her brcause of her exquisite technique, elegance and musicality.

I could watch Nela all day every day for the rest of my life and not think twice about the younger generation dancers who think that turning and spinning make them a future prima. They are not and never will be in her league. She is a dancer for our generation.

She gives off a radiance that is quite exceptional. Beautiful with Marcelino Sambe.

I find her exquisite technically, if slightly off in her musicality once or twice. But she is mostly expressionless and I don't see any attempt (apart from in the coreographic gestures) either to seduce the prince or conspire with Rothbart. This kind of technical dancing is sadly on the rise with the younger generation of dancers. We have gained a lot in their clean lines and precision, but lost a lot in emotion and story telling.

Every great ballerina has one magical feature that is uniquely hers. With Margot Fonteyn it is the eyes. With Alessandra Ferri it is the arch of her feet. With Marianela Nuñez it is the face. I believe that with Fumi Kaneko it is the hands. So beautiful!

I love Lauren Cuthbertson, she is one of my favorite. Aurora, Alice and Hermione were characters so different of each other, but interpreted wonderfully by her. She impressed me so much and I hope to see more.

I didn't know that Dame Marianela had such an air eating jete. But it figures she would. Just another wonderful aspect of her monumental achievements. And what can anyone say about Vadim? He has become the best partner of them all.
