I live about 5 miles from where he took his victims in NC. It's horrific what he did to those kids. Yes, they were technically adults, but staying in school is sort of an extension of your teens - old enough yo have some autonomy, but still dependent on parents, etc., so...kids. I have never understood the role of the parents in this. First, I would have stormed Sarah Lawrence and demanded to know exactly why a full-grown adult man who was NOT a student was living in the dorm with my daughter (or son...I say daughter because I have a single child, a daughter). I would have demanded answers and action immediately and threatened legal action if he wasn't immediately tossed out and banned from campus. Then, I'd have packed her things, withdrawn her from school and got her the hell out of there. Then I'd have filed a protective order to include my home and had my daughter file one as well. Even if I'd been unaware until Christmas, there's no way my daughter would tell me she wasn't coming home without my showing up on campus and raising holy hell! What was wrong with these people?? Once you have a child, protecting your child is your first responsibility. They failed miserably! So sad that these people would rather just throw money at the problem rather than DO something to help their children who are scarred for life.

Just want you to know I really love your channel. I've been a true crime junkie for a VERY long time, so am familiar with nearly all of these cases. I enjoy your format of a quick and straightforward rendition of what occurred, why (when it's known) and the results. You are so very good at familiarizing yourself with a case and then breaking it down into the important points and presenting the story in a brief but very entertaining way. If it were a case I didn't actually know if I'd remember, your work would send me straight to Google to find more. In addition, your speaking voice is clear and well modulated. You really do excellent work! And you're so pretty! (I'm not a creeper or stalker - I'm a lady in her 60s, old enough to be your grandmother!) Wishing you much future success! ☀️

I've never thought it was the parents or that they knew who it was. At the time it happened, my gut instinct was that it was the brother. Since then, I have nearly changed my mind - he was only 9. I believe it was someone from outside, but I can't explain all of the evidence. I do think whoever did this broke into the house while they were out that evening. Perhaps they left a door open in the back in their rush to get to the party. The note, etc was all done in the house while they were away and the culprit or culprits simply hid in the basement until the family returned and everybody went to bed. As to Patsy being dressed in her clothes from the night before, I think that's easily explained. If she was tired after the party, she might have just undressed and laid her clothes in a chair in the bedroom to be dealt with in the morning. After the horrific discovery of the note and the absence of her daughter, she just grabbed those clothes to be dressed and ready for police.

You're right - he IS a horrifying human being. I saw bits and pieces of reporting on his crimes and trial. I honestly found him so repulsive, I mostly turned away so I didn't know his backstory. What a sad and terrible childhood. BUT that doesn't explain who he became and it certainly doesn't excuse it. I'm glad he's going to be locked away forever. Thanks for the video with the rest of the story for me! 🩷
