I was 4 years younger than some of The Lafayettes and attended the same high school soon after they graduated. They inspired me to seek rock-n-roll success. In 1963 I was in The Stratfords, and we had the hit, "Never Leave Me." If it weren't for The Lafayettes, I might never have pursued my own success. Thank you Lafayettes.

Even though they didn’t move, I think a lot of old Redskins fans feel same way as these Colts fans did. Sorry but the “Commanders” aren’t truly the same team as the Redskins even if they claim all the history and IPs.

The first time I heard this record was in the 1st Hairspray movie. If it was played in Sacramento when released I would have heard it and bought it. Should have been a huge hit.

It's a wonder they didn't get kicked out of a lot of places thanks to everyone in the audience hollering F*uck during the song while they misunderstood the correct lyric?

I'm from Baltimore and my oldest brother played this 45 record over and over again when I was 10 years old while I swore up and down that they were saying the forbidden "F" word which I soon added to my vocabulary (reference @ 1:44), now after all these years I find out that they were saying something different after getting my mouth washed out then with soap like Ralphie in Christmas Story? Ahhh f*uck...Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhhh! Just like the lyrics go.

Cleveland still had the whole history of the Browns. Baltimore can't even claim any of the victories that happened in the city during the Colts time in Baltimore. They just to the players and coaching staff, the city kept the history.

If you watch the documentary, most of the old Colts fans said they had mixed emotions about the Browns. They were happy to get a team again, but knew they were taking another city's beloved team.
@burns121010 ай бұрын
Jack Kent Cook is the real reason why Baltimore went after the Browns. JKC was in bed with the NFL, and he told them not to award Baltimore an expansion team in 93, because he said it would cut into the Redskins market, which is total crap. No former Colts fan suddenly became a Redskins fan. Baltimore had no choice but to find a team owner that wasn't happy, and that was Art Modell.

The Lafayettes played at City's Victory Hop (Beat Poly) in November 1962. Dick Svehla on alto sax was also a City College Cross Country/Track star of the late1950's. I like my Packers but I could stop being a fan at the drop of a hat. The coin that dropped in my slot was paying for tickets and a hotel room to watch the Yankees play the Brewers in Milwaukee in August 1994. Everyone knew that MLB was cancelling the season the next week. The World Series would not be played. Anytime these owners want, they can pull the plug on any sport, at any time. Sports are a diversion. It's manufactured conflict and drama. Treat it that way.

this is the one that pisses you off, the rams going to st louis and the cardinals going to phoenix is enough to make you disgusted, but the colts going to indianapolis is enough to make you hate private owners untill the day you die. teams should be publicly owned franchises, these owners make millions off the tax payers and the treat their fans like shit. a great book on this subject is "bad sports" by dave zirin. nfl owners have passed rules making it illegal for cities to own their teams.
