Wee done John. Yes I have re tapped my bolt holes and replaced the bolts with Stainless mushroom head bolts with a liberal coating if Copperslip.

@ Yes, there are more legal unsurfaced roads being investigated at the moment. It takes alot of research and even longer trying to find the legalities. Most are literally unsurfaced roads, roads that were never tarmaced.

Hi John, I do have plans for the rear diff as I will probabaly be replacing the propshaft when it gets a but warmer, centre bearing and UJ's are quite badly worn now. The rear diff takes a 80-90 synthetic which can be a bit tricky to source. I have inspected the transfer box and found the drain and filler and again may be a project in the Summer. One thing to be mindful is the different variants of engine and gearbox, mine was a very early example and by the time of the first facelift there was another engine variant. I know for sure this has different driveshaft lengths and spline size. The first ones were a "parts bin" build afer all!

Unbelivably Deere Street Roman Road is 226 miles long, starting at York and finishing at the Antonine Wall so I only travelled on a very small part of this very long road. The road immediately to the South of where I started is now closed to motor vehicles.

The information I have from 3 different people, two of which saw the police recovering the body, the Spicer Lane location is not a myth.

Not sure what year yours is but on mine the reset is done by holding down accelerator and brake pedal while swithching ignition on, press brake pedal three times and release both together.

Being a motorcyclist as well I couldn't agree more. I often see "professional" drivers on their phones, rolling a fag or eating a pie but I suppose it's up to us to be even more vigilant as we are not going to change other peoples habits.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. So firstly I want to make it clear that this route is an Unclassisified County Road, it appears on the List Of Streets and is maintainable at public expense which means it has the same rules and regulations as any other carriageway. The only thing that sets this appart from A,B,C @ D roads is the fact it is unsurfaced. This means it is a fully legal right of way for all users be that walkers, horses and motorised vehicles. My wife cannot walk much more than a couple of meters and I certainly would not be able to walk the length of the road so we exercise our right to drive on the legal network of green lanes across the country so we too can share our love of the country side along with the able bodied people, I really get annoyed with ableist comments when people do not know the persons situation. I know many people who use the green lane network to take less abled and elderly out to enjoy the countryside. I can't speak for all vehicles but my Dacia Duster certainly is not noisy and has a Euro 6 approved 1.5 ltr DCI engine with catalytic converter and does arround 45 mpg. I t also has a diesel particulate filter which prevents heavy diesel fumes from passing out of the exhaust. Judging by the car park at the Eastern end there were far more larger and and less economic vehicles that had driven there. I 'm sure if you really watched the video you would see that we were driving in a very responsible manner and at a low and safe speed. You will notice that we stopped to the the runner past as I / we would do for any walker/cyclist and of course horse rider. 99% of the surface of that lane is hard gravel and with our all terrain tyres and responsible driving there was no more damage caused to the track than a cycle or horse would do. Belonging to the Green Lane Association we regulary repair and maintain tracks, gates, ditches and verges for the benefit of all users and many members will take rubbish bags with them and collect the dicarded bottles, bar b ques, food wrappers etc to preserve the beauty of the countryside, I do not have evidence of other user groups doing this. For environmental vandalism you need to look at our water companies and look at the dreadful water pollution that is still going on, especially in here in the South with untold damage being done for the sake of profits and bonuses. As for being ashamed? Absolutely not, it is a pleasure and a joy to be able to take my wife out to enjoy the views, wildlife and countryside which would be only for the fit and able to enjoy. Please also bear in mind that out of all the public rights of way across the country only around 4% have access for motorised vehicles so you have 96% more paths, bridleways and retriced byways to find you peace and solace on.

@@mervtaylor Any comments on the track damage at 24 minutes? Entirely caused by motorised vehicles. As someone who has has his family put at risk by off-roaders in the Lakes, and personally witnessed significant damage being done to tracks and verges by large groups of (very scary) off-road motorcycles in the Cheviots, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that notwithstanding what ancient laws say, its morally wrong to subject our natural environment to the destruction these vehicles cause.

On Saturday 2nd November a team of volunteers from the Green Lane Association will be moving stone from a site near Cockermouith to near the Eastern end of the Unclassified County Road. Stone will be loaded on volunteers trailers and moved to the area in question. As not to cause any damage to verges, the unloading will be done by hand rather than mechanical means.This is being done in conjuncion with the local authority but obviously as it will mainly be volunteers there will be hardly any cost to the council. When the repairs are carried out they will then be focussing on Hartside and Ulpha. I hope you re visit the area and check out the work that will have been carried out. I will not defend any actions of unsafe passage on the green lane network and I along with many other resposible users are eager to report illegal and dangerous, the small minority unfortunately tars us all with the same brush, very much like you appear to be doing. When it comes to morals, I ask to to search deep and ask your self is the countryside the domain of the fit and able soley? Do you really think the majority of green lane users are going out to destroy the past time and hobby that they love? No, it is a mindless minority as there are in every past time or hobby. 95% of it you could do it, it's the the small rutted hole by the gate, there is no room to go around it. You will deffinately scrape the bottom and I am not sure if the Jogger has the substantial under tray like the Duster. I would suggest taking a ride in your brother's Jeep first to really work out if it's worth risking it.

Myself and a mechanic friend fitted them. As they are a +40mm lift no other modifcations are required. I have driven over 50,000 miles with them so are tried and tested.
