Interesting video - thanks for posting. Nice to see the small parade of shops again at the junction (read bend) of Rowdell and Kensington road - a shame the camera didn't capture the area on the left of Kensington road before the canal bridge- this would have been before the council estate was built?

Rode and later drove this route many, many times. Lived in Yeading near to the shops. Went to Barnhill School infants and juniors in Owen Road. As a teenager I used to go with my mates to The Target on disco nights in the hope of "pulling a bird" (meeting a girl). At 7:22 there's a glimpse of the Co-op milk yard where I worked from 1974 to 1976. Like another world now...

What a difference a better camera makes I wish you had done the original route though A lot has changed, (not for the better though) The Co-Op dairy has now gone, (Todd doors now) Towards the end, someone was going towards St Marys chrch The Crown has had several make overs and owners The plough is now a Sainsburys (dont turn right into it, there is a camera watching you The post office will soon be gone, no more deliveries from there, a tower block is planned The White Hart is still closed, another tower block planned for behind it Not a bad video, but should have done the original route again

This could have been a great video, if whoever the passenger was filming it hadnt concentrated on the dashboard, he just had to lift the camera up a little bit The driver could have slowed down a bit I know he couldnt have done down the bypass as it wasnt opened, it had been finished though Hayes hadnt been modernised in the 90's then The shopping mall opposite the grapes wasnt built, The Target pub was still shut down (it was always a bugger to get to for a pint I would have liked to have seen the Plough, before it got burnt down On the right in Northolt) Should have been more places of interest, pubs, shops But considering this was the 90's its not bad, but there was some very good video cameras on the market back then I wonder what he was using ?

For anyone still uncertain, there was no cctv footage of the accident. If there had been, it would have been offered as evidence at the crash Enquiry and mentioned in the official Accident Report. It wasn't.

I do think this is a bit miss leading. I would far rather they had fixed the AWS in the HST, which was switched off and then never told anyone than spend millions building coaches that can guarantee survival in a 125mph head on? Trains don't have 1000 yd crumple zones.

This is amazing because the force of the accident releases energy as heat that bends the light making the bending coach to appear to spill over the track. Wow

In America this would be considered a failure. Lots of mistakes were made. That lady didn’t need to die. If the police had been more aggressive initially she might still be alive. Sad that this is what they call success in England.

I'd forgotten all about the Southall rail tragedy. We went through a period in the UK at this time where there were several railway tragedies within a decade, and sadly, some are less remembered than others. Rest in peace to all who perished.

My Mum and Dad didn't remember the southall crash at all when I showed this to them. However they did mention the Clapham Junction crash, the factory my mum was working in had police visit asking for people to give blood at the scene.

Very interesting to see how Hayes looked like nearly 3 decades ago, when I wasn’t even alive. Looks quite similar today, but that roundabout near today’s “Tesco’s” looks quite different now.

They threw stung grenades into the flat which I have no doubt traumatized that little 4yr old 😡 I don't agree with that tactic that could have made the situation worse they should have given him more time I believe he'd have walked out peacefully with all that police violence.
