I was only 5 years old when this happened and I remember watching this with my mum, it didn’t scare me watching this back then but it’s too distressing to watch now and it’s strange to think that princess Diana was killed in a car crash not long after this

Phil Redmond is responsible for some diabolical TV. Hollyoaks is appalling, the last 10 years of Brookside was poor and Grange Hill is remembered with sentiment through rose tinted glasses because there was nothing else on.

Clearly this broadcaster has some anti American biases. Asking if America will reflect and be introspective as opposed to wanting to punish those who attacked. All of his questions have a cynical bend.

I'm working my way through classic Brookside at the moment and couldn't help but have a cheeky glance at this again. It's incredible how much it changed over the years.

Hasn’t anyone noticed the striking similarities to Horrid Henry’s Hike episode with this? Except, unlike Henry, Dennis and Gnasher actually LIKE the countryside (for a while, at first).

why of all the soaps on British TV this one was pulled, this was by far the best one for action and real gritty subject matter and some humour involved.

Personally, I totally understand why Christianity is looked at like it's a cult.... I've experienced my fair share of cult like churches and weird people who are out there to say the least. But I don't think it's fair to say that christianity as a whole (especially the first original Christians and Jesus) is a cult. Thats kinda like saying that monogamy is a cult and " stay at home moms" are cults and the entire police system and governing systems all over the world are a cult. That families with rules and morals they follow amd dictate to children tk guide them, is a cult. That bingo nights, clubs, memberships to gyms, gdoups on fb are all cults... which i get it... some probly are lol...... Maybe I'm misunderstanding how the word is being used, but when I hear the word "cult" I think of something that is ridiculous that people obsess over and no matter how much it hurts them or others or how much it takes away from them or others, it posesses them to continue achieving higher status and recognition in its social structure. If we as people obsess over something that is ultimately loving, good and wholesome, then how can it be classified as a cult? If we are passionate about our love for people or justice to the point we are willing to die for them (like so many are willing to die for a spouse or a child) how can that be a cult mentality if it's done properly? All of us who have a heart are willing to die for somthone else whether it be a child, a parent, a friend and better yet, a total stranger if we had the ability to. Cops do this everyday. So do our soldiers, but I can't call them cult members. Just like I can't call true relationship with Jesus a cult either. I went as far as to look up the definition of a cult and there are 3 classifications for the word that could distinguish...... One is simply a small group of people who are devoted to someone or somthing that others find strange, and the 2nd classification is a group of people who are devoted to somthing that others see as sinister or harmful and the 3rd classification is a " misplaced or excessive admiration for somthing or someone". All 3 of those classifications seem to me to declare that a cult is likely a" bad " thing for people to get mixed up in. So this is why I make my Comment a out this documentary. I've been studying cults for a long time and when I've seen so many get hurt by cults and millions of lives get ruined by cults and their practices and beliefs, I want to clarify what truely is a cult according to how most the world understands the word. Christianity at its core and in its purest form is absolute selfless and is the truest form of love. Somthing humans can't give easily. And not that fake Feely Feely stuff. (which you'll likely struggle to find examples of Christianity, more often than those who are false believers or struggling to grow in their relationship with God) I classify myself as a Christian. Although I've struggled to behave as one in the past, I've come to understand that my faith has nothing to do with mainstream Christianity. But a personal relationship that causes me to want to be good to people who hurt me, makes me want to love people, and help people, and forgive people, and just be a whole person who doesn't need to feed off of other people's joy or stomp on other people's lives and push others out of the way so I can get ahead of them, or attack other people to feel better about myself through their pain. That couldn't be considered a cult in my mind, i may be wrong though? but im not part of any group or any one church or a denomination and I don't go around telling people to repent or they will burn for eternity. Thats not my job. I don't think it's anyone's job. I think that's between a person and God. Although I believe there are some neat people out there that use that shocking expression to share what they know of eternity. But it's never done in a hateful or angry or aggressive way when it's used by true Christians. It's made perfectly clear by our own conscience and the spirit in us ( plus our bible) how we are supposed to behave and act, especially to people who haven't heard the gospel. Jesus never started a conversation with people shouting that they are all going to hell. Anyone who doesn't behave according to the universal law which is written in our hearts, is either struggling in their own understanding of Jesus (ive been guilty of this) is hurt, or is part of what I would classify as a cult if they are being instructed to act hateful and aggressive and attack people verbally or physically in the name of whatever god they serve (but it wouldnt be Jesus who taught them that) . Religion has been used since the beggining of time to manipulate and enslave people and to grant others the power, money, sex and lordship , they think they deserve or are entitled to through their teachings and false doctrines. That to me is what I think when I hear the word "cult"- a dictator that demands you harm yourself and harm others for the sole benefit of the leader because their god tells them to tell you that you are to serve them or you get punished.......... which is the exact opposite of true original Christianity, ( and by true Christianity i mean the teachings that Jesus taught, and the early apostles shared in the new testiment before it became an organized religion forced on people's all over the world in tne form of catholicism). Im still learning, so forgive my ignorance in this if I've completely missed the point about what a cult truely is and how it's used in the context of early Christianity.
