Initially I didn't care for Tender Valley AT ALL. I just felt it was absolutely bland and uninteresting as a whole. Now I'm thankful when I get it in Roulette, cause it's the fastest to burst through. Strayborough is a nice theme, love the music and visuals, but the first boss alone makes me pray I never have to step foot in there ever again. I don't even have trouble with the boss anymore, and I still absolutely hate it more than any other boss in the entire game.

Tender Valley is a really fun dungeon, but I am *awful* at reading the second boss's attacks, and I cry every time I get Strayborough. I think they're good challenge for optional dungeons, but hoooy boy that first Strayborough boss can get frustrating. The second I just....find it hard to concentrate on where the teacups are going while also fighting the boss. I can track one ok, but I kinda give up on tracking both when there's two.
@daxindal85023 күн бұрын
The trick with the teacup boss is that you look at where the both start and then only need to track one. The cups will always stay the same distance from each other.
@HanabiraKage3 күн бұрын
@@daxindal8502 On top of that, when there are two rings of cups the cups will always end up in the same ring (outer/inner) as before so the two cups will *always* not just be the same distance but also the same positions relative to each other.
@phiefer33 күн бұрын
@@HanabiraKage More than that, there are set patterns to them, you can just look at where the ghosts start and immediately identify where the safe spots will be before they even start spinning. The first time (only 1 ghost) the safe spot will always be on the side where the ghost starts. For the second pattern, there are 2 ghosts either directly across from eachother or 90' apart. If they're directly across from eachother then the safe spots will be about 45' cw from either ghost. If the ghosts are 90' apart, then the safe spot is 90' cw from the second ghost. I don't know the patterns for the 3rd set, but the boss usually dies before then these days.
@Mephiidross3 күн бұрын
You can also bait the first boss' adds. They'll always target the furthest player first, then the nearest on the turn-around. As a ranged, if you stand directly E/W, then the mobs will always pass through the center, so that N/S becomes safe, allowing melees to do their thing. And then you just take a few steps sideways, letting 'em run out of the arena on the turnaround.

The reveal of the Greatest Serpent of Tural was one of the funniest things they’ve ever done in my humble opinion. Plus it’s nice to have a proper origin point of where the temple of Ronkan came from in the first when compared to the Tender Valley.
@jedimasterpickle34 күн бұрын
While I love the Greatest Serpent and agree it was hilarious, it does raise several questions about how civilizations develop in the shards. Like, Ronka didn't *need* an origin point; it was just a civilization that existed in the First. The Source and its shards went down different paths after the Sundering, didn't they?
@VashimuXIV3 күн бұрын
@@jedimasterpickle3 Touché, it is a ruins when we visit the region during Shadowbringers. I always assumed it was just an offshoot upon the Source being sundered, given we often meet people similar across the shards. Though, it could just be that different cultures found root in the regions.
@ketsuekikumori91453 күн бұрын
@@jedimasterpickle3 Unfortunately this is one of those cases of suspension of disbelief. This is especially true when comparing it to our only real point of comparison, the real world and its history. Remember time flows differently on the shards vs the source, and its malleable. There are times where it speeds up and slows down, causing anywhere from decades to centuries or even millennia to pass (pun unintended). If we use the real world as an example, that kind of deviation should've made the respective civilizations to be unrecognizable from each other, especially when cut off from each other. If we use Eorzean (the lingua franca of ff14) as an example, it's amazing how little has changed between the reflections and source (nevermind civilizations). For the source, the argument is that it became a trade language similar to Esperanto. In ff14, the time passing should've changed the language so much between reflections, that they should no longer be mutually intelligible. Only those with the Echo, should be able to understand anyone else since it autotranslates for us (as the plot demands it). And yet the Scions that were whisked away to the first were just fine. If it was truly that different, Urianger had at least a decade to learn the language, while the twins only had a year. Yes, they are natural prodigies, but they aren't that quick learned.
@phiefer33 күн бұрын
@@ketsuekikumori9145 I wouldn't call it a case of suspension of disbelief. The quest for the dungeon specifically brings up the similarities in the civilizations that developed independently on different shards as a plot point. This implies that it isn't simply something that with no explanation that we're just supposed to ignore for the sake of convenience, but that it has an in-world explanation for why the shards are far more similar than they should be.

Interestingly enough, my 1st tender valley run happened to be 3 dps 1 tank for fun. I saw what the final boss was gonna be by sheer context clues of the temple area, what with the GIANT edifice above the doors as you go deeper. I personally had a hoot as EVERY run of Tender Valley I got for 2 or 3 weeks included someone going 'SCREE!' Immediately upon reaching the final boss. As for Deadwalk, a LOT of folks feel like someone was lashing out at the community for the 1st boss. Vuln + out of action for 15s for getting grabbed? That felt too much like a Savage raid level punishment (remember E2S? Here's a stacking vuln + damage down + healing received down for each hit you could've dodged) the 2nd boss isn't so bad, the cup rotation does still catch me off guard when the ghosts appear on differing rings of the teacups since each ring rotates at a different speed. Final boss felt like a let down being the easiest of the fights barely being a problem if you read his 'wards' (I have to remind tanks/melee DPS they can just stack ghostduster since it just misses if you aren't a ghost so they can keep smacking the boss in melee heavy parties)
